Can I get a SEPTA pass for Super Bowl parade?
If you didn't buy the one-day special pass from SEPTA before Friday, you won't get a seat. And even if you did, you need to secure your spot before the regional rails -- the trains -- reach capacity systemwide of about 77,000 riders. Also you need to know what train stations are open Friday. The trains are not stopping at many stations Friday.
As of Thursday afternoon, SEPTA had sold 30,000 of the one-day passes, according to a spokesman.
Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl parade train tickets, public transportation
The city of Philadelphia recommends using public transportation as an alternative to driving to the Super Bowl parade.
Service on the Broad Street Line (B) and Market-Frankford Line (L) will run every 6 to 8 minutes beginning around 5 a.m. Free rides are available on both lines, covered by Kevin Hart’s premium tequila line, Gran Coramino. Hart is a Philadelphia native, and his brand is the official luxury tequila partner of the Eagles.
Note that a limited number of stations will be open on parade day to safely move large crowds into the city. Plan accordingly if you’re commuting into Center City for the parade or for work.
There is also limited parking at the two El stations: The Frankford Transportation Center has 500 parking spaces and the Fern Rock Transportation Station has 500, according to SEPTA. Both lots are expected to fill early.
Regional rail lines will run on limited, modified service from 4:30 a.m. through 10:50 p.m., including the Wilmington/Newark route.
Regional Rail customers can use Key cards, passes or purchase a Special One-Day pass for the parade. The Special One-Day Pass is available beginning on Feb. 12 and must be purchased in person at aRegional Rail Sales Officebefore Friday. It costs $10 and is valid for 10 rides across all modes. If not used on the day of the parade, it can be used on another date of your choosing.
Parking will be enforced at all transit stations.
SEPTA officials noted that it will close rail transportation at its 70,000 rider capacity limit, meaning even if you have a pass, you aren't guaranteed a seat on a train.
Cyclists should be aware that several bicycle lanes along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Broad Street and streets in the area will be inaccessible. There will be no access to the Schuylkill River Trail from the rear of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Feb. 14. Westbound travel on the Schuylkill Travel will end at Paine Skate Park.
