The Pony Express National Museum in St. Joseph, MO is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It offers exhibits that detail the legendary cross-country mail delivery service via horse and rider in the 1860s. In addition to this museum, visitors can also explore other historical sites and museums such as the Patee House Museum, Glore Psychiatric Museum, Jesse James Home Museum, St Joseph Museum, and Robidoux Row Museum.
A super cool historical site! You get a great history of the Pony Express with some Westward expansion tucked in. There was an original hand-dug well kids can pump water from, and lots of other hands-on exhibits. There is also a fantastic little kid's room. You can even see some of the original foundations. It is cool that part of the building is original as well. We really enjoyed our time here.

Amazing museum. They have awesome first hand accounts from the riders which was one of my favorite things. The movie is cool too. I loved trying out the saddles and Machias. The well was cool too. Kid would love doing the souvenir penny, the kids room, and the rubbing. The Stamps are cool too!

This was such a wonderful stop coming through Saint Joseph. I learned so much about the pony express. The staff was very helpful with questions and friendly. Thank you and I will definitely come back.

We loved this homeschooling teaching experience! Thank you! It was very clean and extremely friendly and welcoming staff. We were very pleased they have kept it all original, even down to the location. That being said it's really sad to see how run down the area has gotten. But still very worth it! With a couple of other places to visit near by.

Quaint little museum in St. Joseph. Sketchy neighborhood but no problems encountered. The old stable had some interesting exhibits of the old Pony Express as well as a gift shop. It was a nice stop for an hour off the road.

Staff was welcoming and professional. The exhibits are well curated. There's plenty to interest persons of all ages. Some parts are quite interactive.

Well done. Lots to look at, starting with a video of the story of the Pony Express that the family enjoyed. The family loved the re-made scenes, the little one loved the dress up, my son loved pumping water at the well and smashing his penny, and put on a cowboy hat and got into the spirit too, and the older kids stamping on note cards. Even the playground, train on a rail and huge Pony Express mural outside were quite enjoyable.
Justin K — Google review
The Pony Express Museum was well done with many exhibits being offered. The day we were there there were people available to talk to about the exhibits...Please note this building is where the horses were stabled... the post office is located inside the Patee House Museum a couple of blocks away...

Very nice museum about the history of the Pony Express in an original location. They have an original well preserved inside and I enjoyed the small display/bio for all of the Pony Express riders.

This museum was a very cool stop on our road trip through Middle America. It was awesome that the museum is in the same building as the original Pony Express stables. The exhibits were well done and very interesting. I especially liked the covered wagon, working pump/well, bios of the riders and maps. This museum is engaging and interesting for school-age kids to adults and really immerses you into the history of this area.

Great piece of history but a small facility. If you can go outside of tour bus traffic, you'll be grateful.

We enjoyed our visit. Everything was clean and well documented. We watched a 15 minute video at the start and the rest of our visit was self paced. The customer service was excellent. I highly recommend visiting this place. I’ve always been intrigued with the pony express since I was a little girl and this museum is excellent.

I had low expectations for this museum but it was excellent. My family with 4 kids aged 3-12 loved it and begged to stay longer than we there there (about 90 minutes).Very well done exhibits, hands on learning for kids, and the play area was great too.

This place was super cool to go through. We spent well over hour in half going through it all. The staff was so nice and friendly, kid friendly place, wheelchair friendly. And There is a few interaction stuff to do as well.

We took our 2 yo and 1 yo (both well behaved). Both the men’s and ladies bathrooms have changing tables and VERY clean. Our kids loved finding all the horses and enjoyed trying to do the pump to water the cows. Which gave us a moment to read what was around us. And we LOVED the kids play room! Oh goodness the play room was clean and well kept and so cute! They also have stamps and crayon scratching the kids can do. Overall it was so much fun and our kids loved it!

We weren't expecting much. Boy, was I wrong. It was a last-minute stop and so pleased we did! Do yourself a favor and stop and learn some history and view some interesting artifacts. Fun for all ages. Have a picnic across the street at the park.

Great little museum with a short film, displays, interactive exhibits for kids, artifacts all showing the history of the important, but short-lived business of the Pony Express.

5/14/23Great history lesson of the short lived Pony Express started in St. Joseph, Mo. This is an excellent museum to bring groups too. So much to see along with interaction stations. It is a self guided tour with a 16 minute informative movie. I was there 2 hrs and could have slowed down for a bit longer. So happy I discovered this history preserving gem. Not expensive and has a wonderful gift shop.

The Patee House Museum, located in St Joseph, MO, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Once the headquarters of the Pony Express and a Civil War Union outpost, it now showcases an impressive collection of Western artifacts. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the past with its rich historical significance and has been featured on various television programs. Built in 1858 as a hotel, this multi-story gem provides visitors with an immersive experience that goes beyond its association with the Pony Express.
It's impossible to describe the collection here. You have to see it for yourself. What a great window into the history of St. Joseph. It was an accident that I stumbled in and I'm so glad I did.

We happened across the Patee House Museum when in town and loved it... this place is amazing and so much fun...The carousel is antique and hand carved... and it is still in running order... offering rides...Rhe first floor is amazing offering many antique items from the period... there was so much to see we did not finish the first floor...Since there is a second and third floor full which I understand are amazing as well we will definitely be back next time we are in the area...
Rhonda B — Google review
This museum is very well put together. It has a great exhibit on the Pony Express It has a Main Street walkthrough where you felt like you were put back into time and got to walk into each one of the shops and see what it would be like during that time frame. To get the full experience, be ready to take some time and read the description on each exhibit. There are multiple levels to explore and an elevator to move between the floors. The Pantee Carosel is also a must see. Overall worth the time to explore this museum!

This place is so fun! So much to see and do. There is a scavenger hunt for kids but it is a little hard for the younger kids. Will need a little help as some of the items are considered old to them so they don't quite understand, but we loved it! Highly recommend this place! So much rich history and riding the merry-go-round is a must!

Fantastic layout and variety of items to see. There is something for everyone to enjoy. period music adds to the atmosphere. This museum is an absolute gem; hours will melt away taking in all the great pieces and stories here.

We wanted to visit the Patee House. When we entered we were told: Sorry, we'll be closing IN 15 MINUTES! Well, then I wanted at least watch one or the other in a quick run while my wife sat down on the "horn couch" and waited for me. So I only wanted to pay one entrance fee, but the lady at the register took $14 from my VISA card for two people. I was back in 14.5 minutes only to be told I had half an hour left! ?!?!?

Quite a massive collection of history under one roof. The carousel was an awesome finish. Should be a mandatory school field trip for children of all ages.
Jim — Google review
We visited the Patee House, but the museum turned off all lights on us well before closing, (20+ minutes before closing) and left us in a very dangerous circumstance on an upper floor in pitch black darkness. They were very well aware we were there in the museum, we spoke to them at the 30 minute and 20 minute mark when they told us they would be closing in 30, then 20 minutes and cheerfully responded that was no problem and we would ensure we were done and headed out on time. But they had zero regard for safety or patron enjoyment or experience. It is a beautiful museum but certainly do not get there within a few hours of closing. My children were scared and left having not enjoyed or learned about the experience as intended.Unfortunately, after reading other reviews on various platforms it is an extremely common theme that the staff is incredibly rude to patrons. We visit an incredible amount of museums per year and I have never taken the time to write a poor review, despite having been through all kinds of different sizes and levels of maintenance. I usually just feel that the intention to preserve history is nice and leave it at that. I took time to call the fire department I was so appalled by the extreme nature of what occurred, and the danger it posed. Forget the fact we wasted money for the experience.

Interesting visit wotth an hour or so. You can easily spend several hours in you read everything.Jesse James house was cool. Neat to see the room and .Amazing the Patee House was the finest hotel west of the Mississippi, and how in a rough and tough run down area.

Well worth the $8 per person for my wife and I. We spent over 2 hours walking around and reading the many, many exhibits. We just came to St. Joseph for a little getaway for a couple of day, and I am so glad we chose to go through this museum. It gives you a great feel for the history of the whole town and area not just the building. Also some great western history in general. Also, it is really well kept up. Kudos to the association. It is in a part of town (we walked all through downtown) that is fairly run down, but the museum is fantastically well kept.

Excellent museum of the old midwest. Old hotel, original headquarters of the Pony Express. Every display is a collection of different regions historical artifacts. For example, one room is Walter Cronkite's fathers dental office. Walter Cronkite was born in St. Joseph and his grandfather and father were dentists there. They recently opened the 3rd floor so you can see the original hotel rooms. Second time here, did not pay the extra $ to see Jessy James house this time.
C J — Google review
Three floors. Might take half a day to thoroughly go through. The Pony Express Museum is just blocks away.

What a great surprise! We came for the Jesse James House, which was small but fun and informative. Ended going to the Patee House next door and WOW! You could spend days in there! Little bit of everything, would DEFINITELY recommend! Gorgeous working carousel too!

This museum is absolutely amazing. One of the most interesting and well exhibited museums I have ever been in. I never lost interest in the items on exhibit because it was like a walk through time. Not just a bunch of boring things in cabinets. We only had 2 1/2 hours and we could have spent an entire day in this museum. We will definitely go back. Absolutely amazing collection of.history and beautifully displayed. So interesting. An absolute gem of a museum that must be passed to the following generations. Great place for children as well as adults. Gorgeous. Loved it.

What a fun museum! A friend recommended we stop in here while on vacation in MO. Our 11 year old quadruplets loved the “scavenger hunt” they had for kids to do while touring the museum. First of all this museum has a lot of history to share. Probably one of my favorite stops on this trip. There’s many stagecoaches, Model T cars, a train & many exhibits that show life in the 1800’s. The $25.00 admission for our family of six was worth every penny. I would highly recommend this museum to anyone traveling through MO.
Cathy F — Google review
I’m from St Joe and have been to the museum several times so I took my out-of-town family to visit yesterday. The 2 children really enjoyed the scavenger hunt for the “things that don’t belong “ exhibits and that is a great way to keep them engaged. The adults were impressed with the variety and information included throughout. The only thing I would recommend would be to have the people that greet the public to at least pretend to like being there. I know they are probably volunteers but there was not one smile or extra word exchanged with us or the other museum patrons we saw which I thought was very un-St Joe like. I would hate for out-of-towners to think that was normal for our friendly community. The exception was the gentleman at the James house who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history there.
Laura M — Google review
I really enjoy going to museums and this one is definitely worthy of your time. If you are ever in the St. Joe area, stop in and check it out. Also, they have the house Jesse James was killed in on site, too. Small extra fee, though

The Patee House Museum is quite a fantastic place. The history they have captured is amazing. You would never believe they have a train station AND a train in here. There is so much to see on the 3 floors of this surprising museum. You need to go out of your way to experience this gem. DO IT !!!
Michael B — Google review
Patee house was probably a nice museum, the staff was so rude, we drove 90 minutes to see this, arrived 30 minutes before close, and they advertised 4pm closing, it closes at 3:45pm, you are warned, we needed the restroom when we got there, she said that's for paying customers only, of course we pay at all places we go and donate generously, we love history. Terrible woman and this place in a VERY scary neighborhood, lock your car. It is a well kept museum. We ran through in about 10 after a 5 minute bathroom break.

Located in St. Joseph, Missouri, the Glore Psychiatric Museum is a unique attraction that offers a fascinating look into the history of mental health treatment. Originally established in 1874 as St. Joseph's State Lunatic Asylum No. 2, this museum is housed within the former surgery and outpatient building of the hospital. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of surgical tools, equipment, and artwork created by asylum patients.
A great collection of asylum artifacts and a couple other collections added in as well. The artifacts did a great job of telling the tale of the asylum over time and really bringing to life some of the experiences of patients and staff. For those who fancy learning about psychology or psychiatry it was a great way to see some of tools and equipment up close and really take in some atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The gift shop has some interesting offerings beyond the typical generic offerings seen most places. The other attached collections are well worth the time, and contained some great pieces tying in to local history and reflecting on the events of national importance.
Mark N — Google review
This museum is quite unique. The exhibits show how the patients of the mental hospital were treated for their conditions, how they spent their days, actual examples of what they wore, where they ate, kitchen equipment, tools they used and so much more. I really enjoyed the art work from the patients that were displayed. An exhibition on the use of lobotomies included the actual equipment and detailed information on why and how it was done. The gift shop has lots of unique items.

A very educational museum!!! The stories that we need to know aren't always the easiest to hear. If you want to learn and do better, there needs to be a conversation about the past❤️

Very interesting to see the history and artifacts from this old asylum. Museum is 4 floors and is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and are interested in old insane asylum history. Admission was reasonable and there are a bunch of other exhibits on unrelated historical things, like Missouri history and Native American exhibits, in a connected building that you also can visit for the single admission charge. Staff was friendly and informative.

Very interesting and informative museum. Took us a couple hours to go through it. It also includes a wing of Native American and African American collections as well. My favorite room contained the Lego board light displays and the sand art on the wall. It was nice that there were some interactive displays for kids.

Super kind staff and informative museum. Parking entrance is a little confusing, but it’s all connected so you can’t really go wrong with entering in a different area. If you go on a Friday you’ll also get a free pass the a mansion that they own as well. Good for a one time visit.

Lots to read and provided a great look back as to how we've treated mental health in recent history. I'm a psychologist and the visit was one of my favorite activities on the trip. My husband enjoyed it, but not as much. Staff was friendly and helpful, but a bit strange. ;)

Morteg D — Google review
Equal parts interesting, creepy, and saddening. So glad this museum is open to the public to see how previous mental health treatment was like. It occurred to me while exploring that we just never really know what’s better until something new comes along. I felt so much empathy for the patients that had to endure some unusual and somewhat brutal forms of therapy because their mental health condition was not yet fully understood. We are in a much better place today for treatments and I am so grateful. In the future there will likely be improved methods, but at least we are making efforts to become aware. This experience is so unique!

Rebecca — Google review
The history of the museum revealed some horrible treatment methods utilized by physicians in the past. The museum houses a very detailed collection of medical and physical evidence of how mental health was addressed in the past. It is still frightening to think that women, and men , were once institutionalized simply because they spoke their minds or “danced to the beat of their own drums”.. Admission fee was $10.00 for us , but rates were lower for children and senior citizens.

Really interesting place with lots of great exhibits. Spent over 2 hours in just this portion of the museum. Staff was friendly and helpful.

This is a great museum to stop and learn about the history of this location. We had a great time reading and learning about the state hospital, and we would absolutely recommend this as a quick place to stop and learn some really interesting facts about the history of psychiatry.

Awesome place that I visited when I was 12 and made my hubby stop with me at on our way home at 33. Even after 21 years the place still looks virtually the same. Love the entire experience, and I feel like it has been updated a bit to fit the times. My favorite part was the psych artifacts and the African American exhibit. They say it takes 1.5 hours to go thru...but I felt like I was rushing it and we spent over 2 hours! Loved it and thank you!

This place is incredible. The main shop has little vignettes about what is in each of their shops (there are eleven shops!!) you must stop by each of them as they have great stuff in each. The main store also has a lot of MSQC souvenirs. The people are super nice and we even got to meet Jenny Doan. We had a total quilt nerd out. Hit up the other stores in town they are super fun. Great job, friends! This place is a triumph. I can't wait to recommend it and hopefully come back someday!Oh, one more thing....be sure to take time to go to the museum. It is super cool! There is a big featherweight display there right now. And the other thing the blew my ever-loving mind was the room full of the miniature quilts. Absolutely incredible!!

Missouri Star Quilting Company is a gem for anyone passionate about quilting! From the moment you walk in, you're surrounded by an incredible selection of fabrics, from modern designs to vintage-inspired prints. They have an impressive range of high-quality cottons, along with unique patterns and color options that are hard to find elsewhere. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly—they’re always eager to help pick out colors or suggest patterns. One of the best parts of Missouri Star is their focus on creating a community. They offer workshops and classes for every skill level, which makes it a welcoming place whether you're a beginner or have years of experience. The store also has a cozy sewing space where you can work on projects alongside other quilters. There’s a real sense of camaraderie that makes each visit special.Prices are reasonable given the quality, and they often have sales, which is a bonus. Whether you're looking for specific quilting tools, beautiful fabrics, or just some inspiration, Missouri Star is worth the trip.

Bucket list place to go!Plan for at least 2 days.Closed Sundays, and local restaurants are closed also, some on Monday as well.Great diner a little ways down the street from the shops.Great brewery with wines off a corner street in town, for the "after shopping glow."Absolutely fantastic and worth the 3 day drive for us. Even my husband had fun.

I wish I had had more time to explore this place. I had no idea about it before driving into town but when I saw the shop buildings I knew I had to stop for a bit. No idea I had stumbled into the birthplace of JC Penny and the quilting heart of Missouri! Definitely worth spending more time here!

I was excited by the variety of fabrics available. Several buildings were filled with specific fabrics. Feeling like a kid in a candy store, I flew through the bolts and found myself wanting all of it. What a great experience to see first hand. Generally, online orders are how I get my supplies, but since I was in the state, a trip to the YouTube store was a must. The main store was my first stop. The patterns for the quilts Jenny made on her show were displayed nicely in each store. (It's the inspiration corners) Then on to the Batik store, which was the hardest to leave. 350.00 dollars later, smile on my face, I carried a bag full of fabric out to my car. You can tell, I enjoyed myself!

So rude I will never go back! I went today with my husband and daughter to buy my daughter fabric for a dress. She is four, and i understand she isn’t the normal quilt shop patron. However, I make a lot of her clothes and thought it would be fun to stop and have her pick something out. Apparently we were not welcome! The woman at the counter didn’t even speak to us and huffed at my daughter’s excitement. When I asked for assistance she completely ignored us. I told my husband that we are clearly not wanted so we should go spend our money somewhere else. The woman was about 40, brown hair in a bun. I hope management addresses her and her terrible attitude.

What's not to love? Every line of wonderful quilting fabric you could wish for is right there in the space of 3 city blocks! And notions galore! There's even a man cave with leather recliners, a big screen TV, and a pool table. The employees were very nice and helpful if I needed help. Add in a couple of little cafes right in the middle of town, and you've got the makings of a great day. This was my first visit to what should be the center of the quilting universe, but it will not be my last. I'm going again in May!

Was sew excited to finally get to go to Missouri Star Quilt Company. Drove 8 hours. Shops are really cute. But I was disappointed that going to 16 shops and only two employees acknowledged us, there were no hello’s or welcomes. Except at 1 little shop a lady and young man, they were helpful and welcoming so big thank you to them, others need to learn from them. Remember customers make a business. Will try again

A dream trip for moms and daughters!! My mom and I had an absolute blast! She called ahead and they were so friendly on the phone about all the shops and information on events going on!!(Other shops in KC not so much). Highly recommend going and spending the whole day there! Leave the men at home but if you can't they do have a man cave with multiple tvs and recliners. Definitely set a budget and then have wriggle room because there is so many to projects and gadgets to look at!

Wow!!! This is described as The World of Fabric and it’s true. Entire shops of specific fabric - a store of batiks, a store of children’s fabric, a store of 30’s fabric and so on. I think there are 10-15 fabric stores! Plus a Man Cave store for husbands…so great and yet made me laugh. Good shopping and good restaurants. 20 minutes off the Highway and WORTH the stop if you sew anything!
S G — Google review
We slid into town about an hour before closing and only managed to hit about 5 of the many fabric shops. We still managed to pick up quite the haul of fabric. I had never dreamed a quilt shop mecca could exist like this. My pocketbook was happy I only had an hour to spend here. It could have been so much more expensive. The staff in each of the shops was accommodating and friendly. They gave us great directions for what we were looking for and were very efficient so we could see as much as possible in as short a time as possible.
Mark G — Google review
Edit: I'm upping my rating because someone reached out via email and was able to find my missing fabricI'm pretty disappointed in how they handled sending me the wrong fabric. After emailing them with no response for 5 days I called and it turns out the fabric isn't in stock even though the website shows it as available. I asked if they could just send me the fabric when they got more of it and they refused. The only options given were: choose a new color right now as a replacement or get a refund without honoring free shipping when I repurchase because of their mistake. Choosing a new color on the spot wasn't possible as I had a carefully planned a design that I didn't have in front of me. Now I have to pay shipping when I do find a replacement because of their mistake. Their big selection in fabrics isn't worth it if their inventory system allows you to buy things they don't have and then this happens because of it.
Alisha C — Google review
I made my first purchase on MSQC website. They had an inventory discrepancy but they were very quick at providing solutions. Kelly is great at what she does.I highly recommend them and I will be purchasing from them again in the future!

I ordered an embroidery kit and got a package of needles. When I talked to them, they did refund for the items I did not get (I was going to give them 1 star but feel like they did handle the refund of nonreceived goods quickly and easily so that was the one star) but also the item was out of stock by the time I received not my order and I will have to wait and watch and hope for the best in three weeks when it is restocked. The lady on the chat sent me back to the chat bot without notification. That was the rude icing on the cake. I think I'll look for kits from Etsy, probably, going forward. It seems these guys have enough business they don't need to be nice or helpful when they mess up.

This is specifically regarding the One Big Happy Yarn Shop:I was so disappointed to drive 3 hours to visit the yarn store that I had heard so much about to find out it was closed for inventory of the shop.I researched the Missouri Quilt website often over the last few days before I drove to the town from where I live. There was nothing on the website or the calendar on the website to indicate that the shop was closed. As sorry as I was not to be able to go to the yarn store, I am even sorrier for the shop not to have me spend money there.Yes I could order online, but I wanted to make selections in person. Not sure if I will make the attempt again.

Lots of shops in one location. All current pricing no discounts. Lots of fabrics and precuts, tools and templates and accessories available. Bird St duplex by Misty were very convenient. Streets rolled up by 5 pm! Prepare to eat early only about 2 eateries in town open later or prepare to drive out of town.

Visitor Centers
Willmore Lodge, once a working lodge, now functions as a visitor center and small museum showcasing the history of the Lake. The museum offers well-documented information about the dam's construction and the area's history. Visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the lake from this historical building while learning about how the dam, lake, land, and resort developments came to be. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making it a great stop for both tourists and locals alike.
Cool historic museum showing the making of Bagnell Dam. Really neat log cabin with a gorgeous view of the lake. Worth a visit

This place was BEAUTIFUL! Don Avey was our tour director and was very knowledgeable about the lodge and the dam. Steeped In history and culture, this was an incredible stop on our family vacation. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a history tour!

Small display on the building of Bagnel Dam and some history of local area. Quick tour and a Great View of the Lake of The Ozarks.

Nice quick walk thru history of the Lake and Bagnell Dam. Down side was audio visual parts were not working the day of our visit.

Educational material about the building of the dam and interesting to step back in time to what this place was. Beautiful architecture.
Gwendolyn H — Google review
Some great details about the building of the dam. The building is the original administration office for the construction. Good info on the area before construction. Great view of the lake from the windows and deck of the lodge. Free admission. Clean bathrooms.

This was a pleasant & beautiful museum. Great views of the lake! Perfect for some cute Insta pics & the museum was very nice. It was informative & interesting about the history & current area. This is a perfect place to spend an hour or 2 away from the busy areas at the Lake!

This is free, and has a lot of information on the area, why the dam was made, the history of making the dam, and such. It was such a great way to start our time in the area. We then went to the overlook, and then public access. It was great to first learn about the history before checking up on the dam itself.

The Willmore Lodge Is Great! It was very cool to go there and learn the history. The interior is decorated beautifully. The view of the lake outside is very beautiful. Without doubt going to the Willmore Lodge is a great idea! Have a great day!

It was very neat to learn all about the history of the Ozarks Lake, the befores and after of all the dam, tools used in the making, the geography and everything. Has the most amazing view of the water from the deck of the museum or the trail down to the gazebo.

Lovely viewsfrom the garden. Cool history and small museum. Restrooms and parking available. Worth a quick stop. Hard to find hours online so I took a photo. 8-4:30 M-F, 9-3 Saturday, closed Sunday.

It was a great small museum ,their was something broken which I didn't include. It was one of their tvs but it didn't hit the experience too hard. (They supposedly fixed it later in the day ).It's a well documented museum about the dam. It has beautiful views and people there are friendly. Definitely suggest coming here.

Beautiful castle like interior. We viewed the eagle nest across the cove from their telescope. Wonderful history museum, lots of local information available. Can't wait to return during the warm weather to the reopened outdoor walk to the point.

Stephens Lake Park is a large recreational area that boasts a lakeside boardwalk, picnic shelters, and various trails for visitors to explore. The park also features playgrounds and free WiFi access. While the beach area may be closed during certain seasons, visitors can still enjoy walking around the lake and taking in the picturesque waterfalls and scenery. The park also has lovely gardens which bloom with vibrant flowers during growing season. Unfortunately, some visitors have noted that the bathrooms could use improvement.
Nice foot path around the beautiful lake with much wildlife, decent size swimming spot with sprinkle area for the small fries. Amphitheater for small concert venues and much room to roam around.

Beautiful, very accessible park. There's a great loop around the lake, and there are also trails that lead further away which I'm still exploring! The place is versatile in that there is something for people of all ages: swimming, fishing, play equipment, walking/running/biking trails, BBQ areas, open grassy areas.
Shannon L — Google review
It's a beautiful place with long trails by the water and off it. The swimming is free and actually fairly fun. I have a lot of childhood memories here and it really warms my heart that it's still bringing joy to kids like me.
Axel L — Google review
I'm very Bias, because I have a lot of memories at this park, but if you're here in Columbia MO, this is the park to go. Art in the Park, Roots n Blues festival, the polar bear ice plunge, plenty of great activities are held at this park. Plenty of different playground options for kids, great paths for walking, with different options for longer or shorter walks, just a very well rounded park.
TriRule — Google review
Gorgeous! Love the lake. Perfect back drop for Art in the Park event. Wide paved pathway increases accessibility.

This park has the wow! Lots of everything to a quiet pond area to sit at, hiking trail, picnic areas, to live music, walk with dogs to hiking trails and playgrounds and even rest stop. Public restrooms, large parking lots that are handicap and wheelchair assessable and paths are wheelchair friendly. Grounds are always kept freshly mowed and clear of trash. Great park
Lisa S — Google review
This park was an absolutely gem! We didnt know what we were going to find because the drive up to the parking is a bit deceiving. There is a 1.7 mile paved, outer loop that is extremely scenic, with an overlook along the NW area (yes, this park has some incline!). There is a series of paved trails, a small lake with a paved 0.6 mile loop, bridges, canoeing, gardens, swimming, outdoor showers, brick-and-mortar toilets...the list goes on and on. I highly recommend this park for all ages (and if you are a runner, the 1.7 mile outer loop is a challenging Strava Segment!).

Definitely one of the best parks in town! It has paved trails, which is nice for walking, bike riding, stroller walk or jogging. It has a beautiful lake with beach-like sand you can swim in, and splash pad for young children. Unfortunately, Parks and Recreation amenity were closed due to mechanical repairs when we went there this morning and it seemed that the splash pad was not operating, but people were still swimming in the lake.(No lifeguard attended.) Lots of flowers and trees along the trail. The playground is nice too. It has all sizes of swings for infants/toddlers, children and adults. Nice and shady. Perfect place for meetup with friends too!

This is a beautiful place to visit with kids, take a relaxing walk, or have a family picnic. I have probably done all three. This park has a nice little lake in the middle, a kids playing area with slides, swings and climbing rocks, and also a spray ground for those who like to play in the water.
Praghalathan K — Google review
Love to walk around the lake and take in the beautiful scenery especially now during spring! Place for kids to play, swim in the lake or at the splash pad, have a family picnic, use the posts available and relax in your hammock and nap under the trees, or sit and take in nature. Great spot!

Beautiful place to go on a walk. It then eats which pest for us?5 )What is the daily limit for channel catfish?6 )What are the real names of Lalo and Lala? The answer is on the island-7 )According to one of the benches, who teamed up with the “Coalition to Save Stephens Lake Park” to preserve Stephens Lake?8 )“Our friends from up north, who reside in our lakes, but too many too much will make the lake ache.” How might our feathered friends deteriorate water quality?9 )“A challenge to scale, it’s height you must prevail, photograph your friend before they descend.”10 )The Land and Water Conservation Fund has a white plaque located “off stage”. Who partially funded the Outdoor Recreation Facilities?11 )Overlooking the previous location, a sole chinkapin oak was dedicated to whom in 2016?12 )Located in the garden next to a decaying tree and a shaded bridge a single cactus resides, find it!13 )“Twin walkways over the creek, one is strong, the other falters. I like this park; I take walks here more than three times a week because it's close to where I live. It's a very peaceful area, and I love how big the trail is. They also have a nice balcony you can go on if you like fishing or want a better view of the lake. It's a fun place to take your kids; they have two different playgrounds on opposite sides that you can go to as well.

This is a gorgeous park. Very nice trail all the around the lake and the facilities. It's fun for all ages of the family with a beach area and water spray attractions to play in. Tall fenced in area all around the water play area for security. The park has indoor restrooms and there are many covered picnic areas all around the lake.

This is a nice park with lots to see and do. We enjoyed walking around the lake and looking at the waterfalls and scenery. Our first visit was in the fall so we didn't see many flowers in the little gardens. We returned in the summer hoping for more but found them disappointing. The lake and other scenery are pretty, at least.

This park is so well manicured while at the same time being a place of wild beauty. Waterfalls are placed perfectly for family photos. The lakeside has great openings for sitting and fishing, so even if there are a lot of people there, it feels very spacious. There are several parking areas and entrances.

Rock Bridge Memorial State Park is a renowned destination for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring an extensive network of hiking and biking trails that showcase stunning natural scenery. Additionally, visitors can explore the large cave system and rock bridge located within the park. The trails are kept in excellent condition, with thoughtful markers to guide hikers along their route. While certain paths may not be suitable for activities such as riding or dogwalking, the park offers ample opportunities for exploration and birdwatching.
Absolutely stunning trails to choose from. I chose the 6 hour but did halfway because it started to rain heavily and the stop wasn't planned. Will definitely be going back for more!!Well kept, thoughtful red markers on trees to help you find your way. This particular trail isn't for riding or dogwalking.I'm excited to visit again, it was worth the stop even if just for that lucky pic of a white bird perched on a tree! I'd love to know what bird that was!

I visited here with my daughter for a quick hike to enjoy the weather. It was a pleasant surprise at how beautiful it was! They did have one trail closed due to a tree destroying a bridge but overall it was maintained well and clean of litter. Bathrooms are primitive but handy to have available. There was so much more to explore then i had realized. The cave, spring/creek, rock bridge and plenty of trails for hiking. It was busy but not crowded and we felt very safe. We loved it so much! We will definitely visit again! Thank you!

Stopped by (Spring/April) while traveling past and so glas we did. Only spent about an hour here exploring, and wished we could have stayed longer.First, the park has its own parking lot with ample parking and small bathrooms. Went on a weekday and had the place to ourselves for most of the time.Decided to do the red boardwalk tail to see both the sinkhole and bridge. Easy half mile, but lots of stairs. Some places were a little slippery due to the morning rain. Took our school aged children and were able to go exploring in both caves no problem. Wish we would have brought watershoes or boots, as my youngest did step in the water multiple times, but you live and learn. Water was clean and cold. May be a good idea to bring flashlights too if you explore the cave sinkhole further, and a water bag for items.Overall, nice quiet hike with many photo opportunities. Park was very clean and glad we stopped to explore for a bit.

Missouri State Parks are usually nice, and this is no exception. One of the nicest things is that the state parks always have great maps available near the park offices. We walked the Devil's Icebox Trail on a warm day, and it was a shady trek through the scenic woods. The rock bridge is interesting, and it really felt a lot cooler as we a approached Devil's Icebox. We liked that much of the trail is a boardwalk so it won't get muddy and it's easy to avoid brushing up against plants and getting ticks.

Is a natural wonder known for its unique geological formations, including the namesake rock bridge. This natural stone bridge was carved by the force of water over thousands of years, creating a breathtaking landscape that attracts hikers, nature enthusiasts, and photographers.

It was pretty humid today, but my wife and I did a 3.1 mile hike at this location. There was plenty of shade from the large trees along the trail, and the wooden bridge was neat!We saw the natural rock bridge and cave, and the wooden walkways about a third of the way through the hike were nice. Beautiful day to explore a beautiful place. There were lots of areas where you could picnic or rest.

Awesome trails to hike and only a few minutes from Columbia. Great place to take in the forest scenery, explore the cave-like rock formation, and see some local wildlife.Bring bug spray, wear hiking shoes of you plan on taking trails other than the walkway, and stop by Pierpont for a meal after the hike.
Zach E — Google review
What a nice quite park to enjoy not that far from the hustle of Columbia! The day we visited, the water was high so to continue the trail to the Icebox was not feasible, since we didn't have waders and didn't feel like getting soaked, but it was still a nice visit.
LS T — Google review
Great park to visit with family, there are one cave called devil icebox which is famous, perfect for visiting in summer time where you experience cold air in heat which is a nice experience, there is another cave that is damp and cool in summer, I recommend visiting, if you follow google maps to entrance you would walk about a mile on the trail to find these caves

The Devils Icebox is a must see! While its not huge, its a fun hike and kids will love to explore. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes/boots and bring a flashlight even in daylight to explore the cave. We were lucky to see bats roosting in the ceiling. The park could use better markers along the trails

Beautiful park with many different trails. There are multiple rock formation including a natural bridge and a cave/ tunnel that has an underground river. Beautiful place to explore and learn.
Mason C — Google review
We visited early September. The trails are well maintained. Most of the distance of the yellow trail is wooden stairs and paths when going up or down an incline in the woods and over a stream. You can walk along the stream under the "rock bridge," which is the limestone formation in my photo. The green trail still has a little bit of elevation but without the wooden path. I was fine using regular running shoes and wasn't wishing for hiking boots.
C J — Google review
I absolutely love Rock Bridge! I love hiking year-round on the many miles of trails. Trails available for a range of abilities (although not wheelchair accessible). I do recommend using a map if unfamiliar with the area. Lately, I've been exploring the Shooting Star Trail, which is just past Pierpont. RBMSP is my happy place.

Near the site of his famed "iron curtain" speech stands this trove of Winston Churchill exhibits.
This is by far and away one of my favorite museums of all time. They have done an incredible job of making interactive and relevant pieces for the museum. The fact that the Cold War started and ended here because of Churchhill is incredible. The iron curtain speech was given here on campus. And then Mikal Gorbachev came back in the 90s and declare the Cold War was over. Are you kidding me how powerful is that for this little town in Missouri to hold so much history.
Stephen M — Google review
Who even knew this was here?! We didn’t until we saw a sign on the interstate and stopped. This is a must do for anyone interested in Churchill or WWII. Extremely well done.

I cannot believe that Churchill's famous "Iron Curtain" speech was delivered here in Missouri. For being a small-town, this museum delivered with the incredible artifacts and displays. I really had my breath taken away while visiting. I hope everyone who enjoys WW2 history ane the geopolitical climate takes the time to visit this place!

This was a wonderful museum. We were pleasantly surprised. We only got through the permanent exhibit of the life of Churchill. They have a couple of other exhibits on rotation. There is also a small gift shop across from the ticket booth. The staff were very kind and helpful. Parents of William woods students and students are Free. Currently $12 for adults. There is a discou.t for children and seniors. We spent just under 2 hours reading everything in the permanent exhibit about Churchhill's life. It has a lot of detail on World War I and even more of WWII. There are a few steps down as you come in. They have a wheelchair lift to get down to the main museum floor. You can access the St. Mary's church from the spiral staircase in the middle of the museum. There is also a piece of the Berlin wall in the Plaza in front of the church. There is free reserved parking right across the street on the east side of the museum. Entrance to the museum is on the southeast corner of the church.

Such a hidden gem! Why is this not more widely known across the state?! Great, interactive exhibits about Churchill and his times. We took kids 8 & 11 who also thoroughly enjoyed it. If you show up close to closing, you can go in free, but it does take close to two hours to do it justice. I believe they said that a ticket is valid for 24 hours so you can come back the next day to explore some more. Tasty tip--hit the Fulton Wurst House while you're in the area.

My brother and I visited Kansas and Missouri in November of 2023, and stayed in Kansas City. To see the Gateway Arch, we drove across the state, and stopped at the National Churchill Museum, having discovered it through Wikipedia. The museum is an awesome experience. The church has a very compelling story - having been bombed by the Luftwaffe and then brought over to the United States - and the exhibit is presented in a very easy-to-follow way for Americans who may not know everything about Churchill's career. There are photo opportunities and this is probably most evident with the sections of the Berlin Wall on display ('Breakthrough;' its counterpart is at the FDR Museum in New York). We spent around 2 hours here and did not feel rushed. The gift shop is very small and the items we saw there were rather pricey, I will add.
Avinash V — Google review
Surprisingly comprehensive and approachable telling of the life of Winston Churchill. It was here that he made his famous Iron Curtain speech. Well worth a visit. And, it has a Christopher Wren church from London in the 1600's, damaged in the blitz in the 1940's, and transported stone by stone from London and faithfully recreated here.
Anthony M — Google review
This is a very cool museum. Between the history of the church and Winston Churchill, it's a very unique experience. You can even go into the church. I recommend going on a bright and sunny day. The church will light up with the natural light and it's beautiful. Churchill's life is also very fascinating to study. I hadn't learned of his career before WW2 and it was interesting how he predicted Hitler's plans. I'd highly recommend this to anyone interested in architecture or WW2 history.
Joe W — Google review
Excellent and comprehensive chronology of Churchill's life, and the reconstructed church is also neat.

Have driven by on the interstate for years, seen signs, and never stopped (it's only 7 miles). What a delightful place! A rebuilt Christopher Wren designed English church and a new museum underneath (opened in 2017). Large section of the Berlin Wall there too. Churchill exhibits and memorabilia are fascinating. Even have some of his paintings. Well worth the stop!

The building was great. The surrounding area was beautiful and full of history.
John M — Google review
An amazing piece of history right here in central missouri. Churchill gave his Iron Curtain speech here with President Harry S Truman. Ronald Reagan asked Gorbachev to tear down the wall and so much more happened right here on campus. The church was bombed out in England and eventually flown piece by piece overs here to Missouri to create this beautiful national memorial. A piece of the Berlin Wall stands on campus too. The sculpture was made by Churchill’s granddaughter. A must see spot. Check out the museum inside the Christopher Wren designed church.

We had a fun time Saturday at Eco Adventure Ziplines. They're between Columbia & St. Louis for my KC friends. If you have a road trip planned, they made a fun stop and their smaller zipline is for ages 3 and up!The owner designed a patented braking system that made it simple for the adults to slow down at the end of the cable. We loved the family-friendly atmosphere. Popsicles at the end for the win! The owner accompanied us on our private tour and his enthusiasm for his job was obvious.

I was very excited to try zip lining for my first time ever! Mike and Brandi (sorry if I misspelled that) truly made the experience easy going, fun and friendly! I liked how we eased into the zipping with a shorter line, at first. It gave me an idea of what to expect going further. The landscaping is extremely beautiful and Mike has made the lines go naturally with the land. The views were breathtaking. Mike's braking system made it very easy to slow down as well. (I had no clue that other places may tell you to slow down, by using your hand and placing on the line.) I went for a girls' weekend and I couldn't have asked for a better (first) experience! I definitely recommend this for EVERYONE and all ages!! Thank you so much!

This has to be one of the best and most fun distillery I have visited. The tastings are fun and interactive. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. A MUST stop if you are in the area.

Amazing distillery. They make gin, whiskey and a vodka. And many speciality batches. Like navy strength gin, hibiscus, oak aged. And whiskey they have a stout barrel, heirloom corn, Sherry cask, etc. So many changing options. And the tasting was great! Very educational. And a great value. 5 tastes for $ 15.Highly recommend!

Amazing tasting experience with Greg! Super knowledgeable and made it fun! He has a crazy amount of facts which was the best part for us! The Apple Ambush Whiskey was our favorite, but all were worth trying! The vodka was one of the best we’ve had as well! Worth the trip if you’re visiting near. They have amazing gin cocktails on tap and you can purchase it in cans as well!

OMG, what a great place to visit!! Had no idea what to expect when I heard we were going to a distillery. The owner take great pride in the business as well as everyone else working. The product is awesome and this comes from a person that only drinks either beer or wine with no taste for anything else. Pinckney Bend is well worth the drive and visit!!!

I've always only focused on their gin and tonic, which is the best you'll ever have. But today I did a whiskey tasting and I'm now a full on Pinckney Bend whiskey convert! If you're lucky enough to do your tasting with Sebastian, you will really enjoy yourself because he's personable and very knowledgeable!

If you like whiskey, gin, and vodka this is your place. What a great place! Go in for a fun treat. The people that work here are fun. I had a great time and got to sample a lot of different things. If you are in the area go in and give it a try. Keith is awesome. This is another place where I wish I could give more stars. It is a matter of time before this place is going to explode with business.Make sure you try the special drinks!
Alvin M — Google review
The staff makes sure the tastings are an entertaining experience, even for non-spirit drinkers like my wife. You can choose between a whiskey or gin flight. They take the time to tell you how each is made and offer lots of facts about the process. Each tasting ends with one of their signature gin and tonics. These are not your run-of-the-mill gin and tonics. They're made with their homemade tonic syrup and they're delicious. This spot is not to be missed.

The tasting experience was delightful and the gin and whiskey were great. Small space but with a big crowd it felt cozy. Perfect for a day trip from STL.

Stop by for a tasting. Oh yeah! Went with the whiskey. So now we have to go back to try the gin and vodka. One word to describe it......excellent!!

Great experience, awesome and helpful employees. The tasting and all they offer is worth a trip out to visit them. It was a cool day out and they had a small fire pit outside for anyone needing to warm up.

Great hidden gem in New Haven. The gin and tonics are awesome. Nice little patio to have drinks. And good gift shop to purchase swag or spirits. Their tonic syrup is the boom. Highly recommend!

Finally bucked up and took the family. We normally drive past for camping and our other outdoor activities. That's definitely going to change for the rest of our life! Price was great! Guide and employees were amazing and we literally had a awesome time! Do be me at 30 years of age and miss this fantastic cheap incredible experience

Absolutely stunning, beyond words!! Be prepared for a good hike. Photos can't do this place justice ! We didn't do it, but there's a boat ride and zip line available as well. They appeared to be closed then we went. Maybe it was seasonal or open earlier in the morning.Side note - souvenir shops prices were really reasonable!!

Incredible experience all around. Cave tour was awesome with the patriotic show inside the cave theater and loved the Bible verses throughout the trip. The zip line (thanks Maggie and Dru) was amazing!!! We’re looking for zip lines close to home now!! Thanks to the kitchen who served us 7 minutes before closing since construction held us up. We will definitely be back!!

My most favorite Cave tour of all time. As an avid cave tourist from Ruby falls in Tn caves all over TN, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and even more this one is my most favorite. Zach did awesome and said he hadn’t been a tour guide very long, but I sure couldn’t tell. Great Job Zach!

Cavern tour was great! Guide was dry but funny and knowledgeable. The views were very cool. Would not recommend the restaurant, but everything else was a good, new experience. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Was a great time, my wife and I enjoyed the tour and our guide's baritone voice helped. There was quite a bit of walking on wet floors. Stairs were a challenge too but there are handrails on both sides so you could help pull yourself up. It was beautiful and interesting too, well worth the effort.

What a super cool experience this was. Our kids loved it and I did too. And our tour guide Noah was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions and even had some good jokes along the way. If you’re thinking of checking this place out, do it. You’ll be glad you did!

Very well done. This is a very different type experience and worth a visit. These Caverns are HUGE and even the smaller areas have plenty of width and clearance to fit 2-3 people wide. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Nice gift shop and interesting story about the James Gang getaway hideout.

10/10. Beautiful caves and the tour guide was awesome!! So much stuff to do and see on the property as well. They even have dog runs for those of us who travel with the fur babies. The shop was pretty big compared to other cave gift stores. The Jessie James history is super cool & unique as well. The river, campgrounds, zip line/ropes course, and the cave it self were all awesome & super well maintained. We will definitely be back when we’re driving through again.

Had a great time here, took the cave tour (our guide Carter was fun) and did a kayak float down the river. Beautiful area. I wish we had had more time for trails. I'd definitely return.

Majestic nature brilliantly displayed. Our tour guide on the walking tour was knowledgeable and pleasant. Even our 4yr daughter enjoyed herself. Your arrival time will determine how long you might wait for next tour, so either buy tickets in advance or check time prior to going. That being said there is plenty to do while you wait between the gift shop, fudgery, Cafe, and panning for fools gold and stones for the young or just young at heart.

I brought my 8 year old grandson here for the cave tour and activities. Every aspect of the stay - the motel, the cave, the restaurant, and the other attractions - was a perfect experience. What made it that way was the attitude of every single employee we encountered. No matter what their job was, they were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Even my grandson remarked that everyone was "so nice". It was pretty quiet during the middle of the week, so we had no wait times for anything. I imagine weekends get busier. I would definitely recommend spending a few days here. The riverboat cruise is a relaxing ride, and there are rope courses and rock climbing walls for all skill levels. The campgrounds looked nice, the motel was no frills but good-sized rooms, quiet, and clean - and walking distance to everything.
Deborah G — Google review
We had heard a lot about Meramec being "too comercialized" and such, and there is the short light/video show at the end of the tour, but overall we really enjoyed this cave. Guide was great, path is nice and easy to walk, and there are some great formations and a lot of history. The majority of the tour is plain white lighting. We were glad we stopped in.
Ben L — Google review
The Meramec Caverns was an unexpected detour during my drive through Missouri and it was such a wonderful surprise! I took the guided cave tour, which takes about 60 to 80 minutes and goes into the cave giving you small facts and details about its history, some interesting cave facts, and even some pop trivia along the way! So much fun!Things to note: there are some stairs and a couple of spots where you might have to duck down if you're 5'9 or taller. The most you'll do is 58 consecutives steps to get up to a part of the cave called the theater. If you're unable to do the stairs there is an elevator option. There is a presentation in the theater room that wasn't really my taste, and didn't really go with the cave vibe, but it was short and the tour concluded right after. The area where the Meramec Caves are seems like a really fun place to go you can do a zipline, ropes course, there are some boats and other activities too. I also picked up some delicious homemade fudge from Granny's Homemade Fudge! Clean restrooms and well stocked with soap and toilet paper.Overall, it was a nice little detour. I would I would recommend if checking out the caverns if you enjoy caves, and a little bit of exploring!
Ashly U — Google review
Great cave experience. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and lead the group throughout the cave explaining everything about the cave and the formations. This was my third time going and enjoyed each visit. The cave is a little on the cool side, 60 +/- degrees so you might want to bring a sweater or jacket for the tour.

Super fun to see! My husband recently said that the caverns has been one of his favorite memories from this year. The best part was seeing all the natural formations. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we could tell that he really enjoyed his job. Overall, very cool.

Meramec Caverns was amazing!! Our tour guide was very helpful and informational. This cave is absolutely massive and fully loaded with stalagmites and stalagtites!! There’s a gift shop, restaurant, fudge, campsites and the scenery is beautiful! The cave is dimly but at the same time well lit. No self tours available, only guided tours. Don’t touch the stalagmites! So many cool things to see, the tour is around an hour long and they’ll take you on all the paths that can be seen!
Brian J — Google review
Last minute decision to stop after all the billboards we saw along the way. When we first pulled in it was like being on a resort (it is one) so I was not sure what to expect. Some of the things are extremely out dated but over all we had a decent time.We did not end up getting to kayak or float the river due to time frame we were there. The last kayak trip went out at 1pm that day so plan your day accordingly. The zip lines were cool, you do 4 different lines in total so lots of climbing. They get longer as you go through them. I wished there was a longer zip line (longest was 1250 ft).The cavern was neat to see. You walk about 1 1/2 mile in total while the beginning was a slow start, it was neat to see all the parts of the caverns. The stalactite and stalagmite rocks are towards the very end of the tour. We had an amazing tour guide that was truly passionate about his job and gave great details. It was a liittle weird for them to ask us if we would like to tip our tour guide before we ever knew who he was or how he did.Over all it was cool to see the cavern and zip line.

I recently visited Meramec Caverns and had a wonderful experience! Although we didn't take the guided tour of the caverns, we enjoyed a fantastic boat ride down the river. The scenery was beautiful, and the ride was so relaxing. The natural beauty of the surroundings made for a memorable outing. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring we had a smooth and enjoyable trip. The boat ride offered a unique perspective of the area, and it was a great way to appreciate the stunning landscape and wildlife. The facilities were well-maintained, with a gift shop offering a variety of souvenirs. There's also a convenient snack bar for refreshments and expensive ice cream after the boat ride. Parking was ample and easily accessible.Overall, Meramec Caverns is a must-visit attraction in Saint Louis. Even if you don't take the cavern tour, the boat ride alone is worth the trip. It's a perfect outing for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a peaceful and scenic adventure. I highly recommend it!

Amazing experience!! First thing you need to know is that it’s cold in there, wear a little sweater or long sleeve, even when it’s super hot outside, I was wearing short and top and I felt cold on there. Other than that, is a nice two hour tour, you will walk and there are some stairs -optional- at the end of the tour, but mainly you will walk a lot. The cave is breathtaking, beautiful, the smell in there is just wow 🤩. They put some color lights in the rocks but I rather see the natural color itself. Greta history, amazing energy felt in there.

My favorite place to go for a walk!! It’s always beautiful and peaceful at this park!! The trail is easy for anyone to do! I like that it has some very small inclines on the walking path since I normally walk here for my exercise workout! Great little 3.5 mile walk!!

Its quite and maintained really great. But there is no actual feel of a park. Full of confusing roads inside the park and no proper sitting area for a family to spend some time. There is a paid party bbq section out there. Will be great for a small team or a company outing. It says paid though.
Sharath G — Google review
So much to explore here! There's a lot of wildlife here and there's little information boards about whatever you may see in the area you're in. The dog park here is nice but isn't always open. Many trails, pavilions, and natural prairies make this park a wonderful space.
Brandon O — Google review
We rode our bikes at this beautiful park. It is clean with restrooms available. You can walk or ride your bike on the trails. There is a large dog park and a couple of children's play grounds. It's a very enjoyable park. There is a covered picnic area and a Horseshoe Club building. I would recommend an afternoon visit.
Kathleen S — Google review
It is a very nice park. I believe it was farm land at one time so there are a few lakes scattered around. My friend and I saw a deer a few weeks ago; she seemed undaunted by our presence. It's always clean. Has several trails and areas are hilly. There is also an "off-the-leash* dig park, which divides the larger dogs from the smaller. All St Charles County parks are truly wonderful!! Go! Get outdoors!!

A nice park area close to town. The walk along Peruque Creek is pretty, and you can walk out on sandy/gravelly shores and pick up shells. The lakes are scenic too, and there is a wildflower garden by Missouri Master Naturalists near the horseshoe museum.

I love the dog park. It is nice, maintained, large, with friendly dogs and people. However, it has such a low threshold to close. It has been closed for what feels like the last 2 weeks, possibly longer, even on sunny and relatively dry days. Just feels like there has to be a more efficient way to manage it without having to close all of the time.

Quail Ridge Park was beautiful and spacious. The walking trails were accessible and there was a HUGE dog park that was well maintained. The dog park was free for all and a great reprieve from the hustle and bustle of nearby suburbia.

Great place to take the family. We walk the trails here. They definitely need to fix the pathways as there are a lot of cracks, some of which are pretty big. Other than that the scenery is really nice and has easy access.
Erica K — Google review
Nice place for your dogs to run around and play, plenty of room. But on an 80° day there was absolutely no access to any water for the dogs unless you brought some with you. And the gates should have a spring latch on them because people just let them close on their own but do not put down the mechanical latch which allows them to still be partially open.
Brian A — Google review
Nice park. They have something for everyone. There's a nice hill for sledding in the winter. I even cross country skied here. There's paved and unpaved trails. A creek and ponds to fish in. I enjoy riding my mountain bike along the creek trails and regularly see deer there in the evening.

Gorgeous for hiking. There are miles of dirt and paved trail. Several playgrounds for the kiddies! There is also a banquet center, the horseshoe pitching hall of fame, and a disc golf course. Lots of pavilions, bring the hamburgers, hot dogs, and charcoal. Great open spaces for kite flying and pick up football games. Use your imagination!
Stacy T — Google review
Quail Ridge is a great park and well known in the area. Several playgrounds and both paved and dirt trails. When our kids were younger they loved playing in the creek that borders the park. We recently started playing Disc Golf and loved this course. It is a nice hike in the woods while playing a game. It is a good workout at there are some up and owns the hill. We even had a spectator deer on one hole. There are some challenging holes through the trees but it makes it interesting.
Will K — Google review
I love this park but the natural surface trail markings and maps need some work. There is a trail map online, a paper trail map by disc golf and another at the bottom of the hill. None of them match the actual trails. I certainly don't see anything on the map that shows Stealey Way splitting like the trail marker shows.
Andrea S — Google review
Great place for kids and adults, nice playgrounds, nice paved trails, nice trials in the woods with lots of wildlife. Disc golf course is well kept.
Patrick S — Google review
Paved trails are nice. Natural trails are very poorly marked at confusing intersections. Plenty of picnic areas.
Julie S — Google review
BEST park in St. Charles County (and there are a lot of good ones)! Over two miles of paved paths through grassy areas and fields with wildflowers, along with additional wooded trails provide a pleasant experience for walking or biking. If you visit in the evening, you're likely to see a few rabbits or spot a deer. There are also well maintained picnic pavilions, outhouse facilities, playground areas and a dog park. Some people also enjoy fishing in one of several small ponds, playing the frisbee golf course or playing horseshoes. It's a beautiful park any naturelover will enjoy.

This is the only reason why I'd come to Grafton. This park is absolutely beautiful! I love how my fiance, pets and I could just walk and reflect and not be bothered. We saw other people with pets and had no issues. People walking past were very polite on the trails. The amount of trails and difficulty levels were really nice to choose from. It's literally real hiking! I love that. I love a challenging hike and being out in nature with pretty views. It was peaceful and fun. My babies enjoyed it, too. We will come back all the time for as long as we are living in Illinois. They offer so much more here but you have to plan time to do it all. It's definitely worth visiting!

One of our favorite places to Hike. We lived to stay at the lodge or cabins then get up early to hike. The lodge and cabins need definite updating. The roof on the lodge is covered with blue tarps in many locations, and the cabins (which we prefer to stay in) just need much updating, and more periodic deep cleaning. The lodge has SO much amazing character, and if just repaired will last so many people for years to come! The grounds allow dogs on a leash, but the lodge and cabins are not pet friendly which is a shame for those of us who love to bring our pups along for a great hike!

One of the best state parks in Illinois. Great hiking trails. Availability of other activities like scenic drive, horse riding, boating, rock climbing etc. make it even more worth it. Probabaly the best park management staff, because they organize free fun group events. Visitor center and park lodge are great places to check out even if you didn't need visitor information or didn't have to stay in the lodge. It's a great place! It's a 3 hr drive for me and I thought it would be a once in few years visit, but surely not!

I came here this morning to check out this state park, and by the looks of it (I have not done any of its hiking trails, just the scenic views), it is a massive park with plenty of hiking trails to see and do. The next time I come here, I'll be hiking with my pup starting early in the morning. It's totally worth checking out and exploring.

If you like hiking, this park is a little gem hidden in plain sight. You can choose everything from a short, relatively flat, out and back, to a grueling six-mile trek with steep climbs and descents. Enjoy it all in a lovely arboreal cathedral nestled along the Mississippi River bluffs. The trails are very well maintained, and kept free of brush and deadfall. Every few years the forest service conducts back burns to keep the undergrowth under control, and the trails are shaped/groomed to limit water erosion.Walk quietly and you're sure to see deer, foxes, and all manner of birds, including numerous woodpeckers, cardinals, and bluebirds. Starting in the fall through late winter, you're sure to see a few of the Bald Eagles that make the Mississippi River near the park their winter home.

Great hike, light rain. Not too muddy and the leaves covered what mud there was. We did the outer look and a couple shorter trails. All exceptionally well marked. Some of the structures would use some maintenance (ridge trail), but it did not detract from the hike.

Drove down for Eagle watch. The visitors center was very nice the staff were kind, helpful and happily answered all our questions. There is an active beehive in the building. There are maps of the extensive hiking trails. Found they have Eagle watch tours and will keep that in mind for next year. We had lunch at the lodge, and the meal was great. Our server Erica was kind and helpful with my dietary needs. The building is amazing and there are also cabins to rent. There is also a campground on-site. The drive to the park from Alton is beautiful with the river on one side and the bluffs on the other. You could see the eagles coming off the bluffs and flying overhead. Ample parking at the visitor center and lodge.

St. Charles Historic District, located along South Main Street and extending into the historic Downtown District on North Main, boasts a unique collection of original architecture that sets it apart from other historic districts in the nation. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through this charming area near the river and explore its cafes, restaurants, local shops offering unique handmade products, and lively nightlife options. The district hosts enchanting events like Christmas Traditions and offers scenic views along the Mississippi River.
Awesome way to spent your afternoon. A lot of neat shops & restaurants. Be prepared to walk but it’s worth the time.

I love visiting this charming, historic part of Saint Charles. The Christmas Traditions event is so enchanting and really puts visitors in the Christmas spirit. The local shops carry such unique gifts and products, some of which are handmade that you won't find elsewhere. The local restaurants, cafés, bakeries, ice cream parlors and coffee shops offer great cuisine and dining experiences, some with relaxing, scenic views along the Mississippi, and the local bars offer lively nightlife. You must visit historic Saint Charles--what a lovely place to visit!

A good mix of history, shopping and food. Nice flow, but car traffic can be intense at times. It would have a total different feel if there was no auto traffic, because you can't loose yourself in the time period with a late model car going by.....

Perfect place to go when you just want to get away from everything and take a nice stroll down this beautiful historic district. The riverwalk is even a HUGE plus! Hollywood Casino & Hotel St. Louis is a vibrant casino hotel with modern rooms and suites, offering a range of casual and upscale dining options along with live music entertainment. The casino features various game choices including poker, table games, and slot machines. Additionally, the hotel offers top-notch dining experiences catering to diverse cravings. For those attending shows at the amphitheater, the hotel provides convenient check-in processes and shuttle services for easy access to events.
Honestly, not sure of the reasoning behind the negative reviews. Staff is extremely friendly and slots are pretty generous. Obviously not Vegas but A LOT better than most of the casinos out there. The hotel is a little older but the food is great and overall, my experience was great. People just have to stop complaining!! If you want a top end hotel, then pay those prices. Micheal, the bartender is absolutely are amazing!! We will definitely come back!!

This is a great hotel if you want to stand in lines and stay in crappy rooms. The concert packages are a rip off because there is no time to eat before or after the show and there is one coffee shop with an hour wait in the morning. Shower was awful zero water pressure. Don't even get me started on the check-in, it's 2024 why do we have to stand in line for this? Do yourself a favor use the shuttle for 15 bucks, then drive to one of the many better options within 10 minutes and save money and time.

I mean, if you’re doing something there, then yeah, it’s fine.Shuttle service to the amphitheater, though: 5 stars. Convenient, efficient, and friendly. It’s worth staying here if you’re going to a concert at the amphitheater. Otherwise, the hotel seems grand, but my stay was in line with the price (relatively cheap).- Could clearly hear the adjoining room’s music, which didn’t even sound loud. Like, I’m pretty sure they could’ve heard me fart.- Blinds wouldn’t raise, but there wasn’t anything to see anyway.- The barn door on the bathroom is cute but a full finger-width from the wall, which could be a concern if you’re sharing the room.- The bed was uncomfortable, but usually is for someone my size (275).- Would’ve gambled, but the app wouldn’t set up and I didn’t see any other instructions or a desk to ask. Granted, I was mildly inebriated and didn’t really put much effort into it, but you’d think they’d make it as easy as possible for you to give them your money.

Expecting a working shower was too much at Hollywood.Suite we stayed in did not have a working shower- handle appeared broken. Reported this to the desk at checkout and was told by employee that she’s heard they’re “weird to turn on in the suites”. She asked why we didn’t call maintenance and we explained we didn’t have extra time built into our morning for someone to come to our room and work on the shower. Front desk staff was rude and didn’t even offer an apology, simply replied asking how we’d like our receipt- email or printed.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Stayed on a Tuesday night and was very surprised with the low rate. Clean and quiet. Front desk was very nice. My shampoo dispenser was empty but I'm bald so not worth docking a star.

We booked and was immediately charged $250 for the room on July 18 for a stay August 21st. On August 21st we checked in and was charged another $210 but did not realize it until after we were home. More than a week later and that issue isn't resolved. The room was dirty, the floors were nasty. I wiped a small area in front of the toilet and the towel was nasty from it. I have Alpha Gal and I'm highly allergic to mammal, I cannot eat at restaurants and had to rent a microwave to heat food, it was dirty and a hazard for me to use, so I didn't use it, but paid 5.95 for it...Mold in the shower ceiling light fixture. Hallways, stairwells all dirty and full of trash and cigarette butts. My son had a smoothie from the breakfast place and realized it was separating in a weird way and chunky, an hour later he was throwing up at the Science museum. I have sent emails and called but have gotten nothing but automated responses and put on hold for 45 minutes. When I booked the room I went to their website but I guess their online reservations sent me to a third party booking cite, which is a clever way to make money, but not a great way to make a return customer.Edited 9//18/2024... I was contacted by email after posting this review and asked to provide a phone number and information so that someone could contact me, even after a couple of emails I'm still waiting...

We gamble quite a bit and I understand it's always in the house favor. With that being said I know I'm going to lose. However most casinos at least keep you entertained and engaged enough to make you more money in the machines. This place literally takes your money. Nothing at all.Apparently the renovations they did were really expensive and they can't afford to let anybody win.

Paid a lot of money for a room and concert. I must say this hotel has the opportunity to be an amazing place. Having a hotel with a direct shuttle to the concert is awesome but....It stinks of smoke, you check in at 4 by the time you drop off your things you have to head to the shuttle bus by 5:30 or be in a huge line, we felt so rushed.. We tried to get a pretzel at Annie's they were out of dough. Did not seem like they were prepared for a large concert crowd. We ate at the venue. When we returned hours later we were starving and there was nothing. Nothing open at the hotel, no pizza or Chinese delivery on a Thursday night after a sold out concert? Starving and disappointed. .

Truly enjoyed this one. Nice clean rooms, good food, polite staff. Easy location with parking garage for rainy days. Will definitely go back. (The hotel actually offers vending, ice, and water bottle filling station on floors.)

I was really hoping to enjoy my stay due to having fun at the casino but unfortunately the stay was not great. Check-in was quick and easy. Casino was a good time. Dealers were super friendly. But the room…. The morning of check out the bathroom smelt like sewage which seemed to be coming from the shower. The room didn’t have extra tissue or toilet paper. Called the front desk asking for more twice. Ended up having to find the restroom in the lobby due to taking 30 minutes for someone to bring more to the room. The room next door had an alarm going off for at least an hour, which I did call the desk after listening to it go off for 20 minutes. The alarm was still going off after I checked out. Unfortunately I won’t be going back.

Last minute booking and a wonderful surprise at the size of the room. The only disturbance I can say is the walls are super thin and can hear what’s going on in the adjoining room. Great location, nice restaurants, spacious rooms, and great friendly staffing.

Booked a room online with 2 queens to attend a concert. Paid $200 for one night. We arrived at check in time. Upon arrival, we were told they had us down for a King. Confirmed we had booked 2 queens. We were then told they did not have any rooms with 2 queens left because they overbooked the hotel. Three adults were sharing this room. They gave us a roll away bed that barely fit in the room. Did not offer a discount or much of a credit to compensate us for their overbooking issue. The roll away bed was extremely uncomfortable. The room was dirty. The floor had something sticky spilled on it. Behind the sliding bathroom door, there were crumbs all over the floor. For the amount of money they charge for these rooms, I’d expect a LOT better conditions. The shuttles to and from the concert were probably the only positive experience we had. However, even after paying $200+ for one night, you still have to pay $15 per person to ride the shuttles.

The casino was nice and the service was good as they were busy. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The cleanliness of the room was not good. Our toilet had not been cleaned and the handle didn't always work so we had to lift the lid to flush it. The floors were not clean. Not sure I would stay there again with the cleanliness issues, but we did stay there following a late night concert and it was nice not to have to drive home.

It's a great location to stay for shows at the nearby music venues. The room was nice, but the halls were outdated. Some areas, especially the hallway, had a sewage smell. The shower hot/cold was backward, and the water was slow to warm up. The biggest downside is food accessibility. They really had zero options to eat after the shows let out, which created issues with being able to eat dinner. They really need later food options as they close really early, especially at a place that has 24-hour gaming. A bit pricy, especially when you sign-up and pay for a food credit you cannot use since they were closed early.

Not sure about the rooms but the casino is spot on. The slots are pretty good with it easy to spot the ones close to payout. The tables are decent play as well. Free soda beverages and they have some easy on the eyes waitresses walking about for your other drinks. There's a few spots to eat in the complex outside of the casino walls which is nice too. Overall this is a nice place to sit back for a day.

This hotel is a little rough around the edges but overall serviceable. The mattress I slept on I'm was pretty awful and seemed old-- I woke up each day with a sore back. I could feel springs and it creamed every time I moved. The rooms could do with some upgrades and some brighter colors. Everything was painted brown, which makes the room (esp the bathroom) seem kinda dingy. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Additionally, the hotel offers an affordable shuttle for drop off/pick up at the amphitheater for concerts and it was so wonderful! Not having to wait in traffic made the concert all the more enjoyable.
Chelsea N — Google review
The supplied phone charger doesn't work, there was a used vinyl glove on the TV stand and the complimentary beverages included an opened almost empty bottle of cranberry juice in the mini fridge. The lighted mirror in the bathroom doesn't work. The undermounted sink in the bathroom seems to have mold or dirt around the rim. The staff was very pleasant and helpful on that side of things.

I stayed at this hotel because I was going to a concert at St. Louis Music Park and it seemed easier and fun to stay here. I got the king bungalow suite because it had a jetted tub. The room was disgustingly dirty and clearly had not been cleaned after the previous guest. There was toothpaste on the sink, hair in the shower, the TV remote was greasy, something smeared on one of the end tables, and the tub was greasy and dirty. I didn't even bother trying to clean the tub and didn't use it which is very disappointing because that's the whole reason I booked the room. The bed was also flat and loud. It was very uncomfortable. This wasn't a cheap room so I'd expect it to at least be clean and comfortable. Also, the whole place smelled like sewage. I don't recommend this place at all.
Hallie L — Google review
Rooms are spacey, clean, and pretty normal. Toiletries provided smell really good. Walls are paper thin and no extra pillows or blankets were provided like in most other hotels we have stayed at. I am sure I could have asked but didnt need it that bad. The only restaurant open after 10 was on the floor and was not staffed to handle the crowds from the music venues. They were incredibly behind - got to witness two staff members going at it because of it and another who was rude when we asked for a refund to just order pizza after nearly an hour wait and still no ETA. Food ended up being really good though, for the money. Overall I think it was poor planning on their part but for ease of location, price, and amenities I would stay again.
Meagan I — Google review
My daughter and I stayed here for a concert. The location was amazing! The front desk woman that helped me was great. The rest of the hotel, not so much. There was trash piled in the hallway both days we were there, some littered throughout the hall (wrappers, q-tips, etc). The comforter on my bed was dirty, not stained, but dirty with something, maybe food. The air in our room barely got cold until the middle of the night, where we were freezing. There was dust and crumbs in every corner of our room and we could see where something had dripped on the bathroom floor, but had not been cleaned up. All in all, the convenience to the music venue cannot be topped, but the hotel was dirty.
Nightmare. ツ — Google review
Our room had small hairs 🤢 in the bed and shower upon arrival also, our room was out of shower soap. These are easy fixes that could have been one off but still not great. What is great about this place is the proximity to the St Louis Music Park and the parking was free and easy! Hopefully Management sees this and can pay closer attention to the cleaning routine, but based on my experience, I would not come back here.

Lone Elk Park is a vast area with scenic driving routes that offer the opportunity to observe various wildlife, including elk, bison, and deer. The park also boasts of a bird sanctuary. Visitors can enjoy walking trails and have a picnic while communing with nature. There is an impressive lookout point at the start of the drive, which provides fantastic views. Entrance into the park requires only a donation, making it accessible to everyone who loves nature and outdoor activities.
Went for a fall foliage trip with family and friends. Very well maintained, accessible and great spots. We spent a lot of time in the bird sanctuary - and started the Lone Elk drive around 4.30pm.. unfortunately we dint sight much elks or bisons. (I guess that’s late for them - so plan accordingly)

Absolutely beautiful! I was able to get these great pictures! My wife and I absolutely loved it. The park was very clean. There can be a little bit of a traffic back up at the buffalo/ Bison (I am so sorry I do not know the difference). Once you get past the Buffalo/bison there is a very steep hill that my car to get up, but that’s my car fault not the parks.

Lone Elk Park is a beautiful place to hike or just drive your car through to see the Bison or the elk they have picnic table to eat or just to enjoy a beautiful day . If you like hiking it's worth doing the white Bison trail you will definitely see a elk hiking and can take a picture if you want to .the trail is a 5 or 6 miles but worth it or worth the drive depending where you live .you can see the bison on your way out normally they seem to like to sit down from the hiking trail .

Another awesome free experience in St. Louis! They do have a collection box at the entrance so bring a few dollars to keep this wonderful park open and accessible. The hikes are easy and well marked. You also have the chance to see elk very close up. Dogs are not allowed even inside of cars so plan accordingly. The bison area is also very cool. You cannot exit the car in the bison area for obvious reasons but you can get amazing photos and see the animals right next to your car.

This was my first visit to the park, and I enjoyed it very much. The Elk were definitely out and literally right next to the car! Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any Bison, even though we drove thru the area at least five times trying to spot some. We saw a family of raccoons and a herd of Elk cooling off in the lake on the property.

Found out this place was free and went the next weekend! It's a beautiful park. On our first ride through, we didn't see any animals. We went around 10am. Many people say it's best to visit the park when it opens because that's when they feed the animals. We started to leave the park, feeling a little deflated. We took a wrong turn and had to loop through the park again, and that's when we were able to see all the bison! It was so great to see the beauty of creation and the animals that God created. So peaceful and calming to be in nature. You should definitely visit Lone Elk Park. It's free, but there is a donation box at the front. There are also designated areas where you can pull over to use restrooms or eat. There are warning signs of chiggers in these areas so if you plan to stop, be sure to bring spray.

I first heard about this park when we had a family reunion here more than a decade ago. We re-discovered it during the pandemic (as did everyone else) and usually drive through several times a year. It's so wonderful to see the foliage change throughout the year and to watch the animal residents grow and change. Sometimes you can only see the animals from afar while other times they unknowingly cause a traffic jam. I've never hiked here, but may look into finally doing that this fall. It's worth the trip and you'll always see other people walking or driving around this park. We're so lucky to have this park!

A respite, with one of the best hiking trails in St. Louis County. It's also perfect for a quick drive through, for a quick dose of nature. There are lots of picnic areas, but know ahead of time that NO dogs or pets (even if confined to your car) aren't allowed..

We went just a little after 7:15 p.m. and saw so many animals!! The raccoons were being so cute begging for food. My hubby had a stare down with a huge elk! The bison and their babies were adorable. The deer were just as cute! There were "shelters" kinda like picnic areas. There were also at least 3 separate places for restrooms. There were also parking areas, and small areas to pull over if you wanted to take longer looking at the animals. They did say that leaving your vehicle was not recommend(on signs). Signage was good but some kinda placed oddly.

What a beautiful park! Our original plan was to go hiking, but due to time constraints, we ended up driving through instead. Despite not being able to explore as much as we had hoped, the park still offered plenty of breathtaking scenery to take in. There were ample parking spots to stop and stroll around the park grounds. Also note worthy that were were signs clarifying that pets weren't allowed in the park.

Free for the public! Saw lots of elk, but no bison. Not sure where they were hiding but still had fun. It’s nice to drive through and isn’t too far away! There’s a donation box which is nice because they don’t charge. Large pond which you can make reservations to fish in.

One of the coolest places we visited in St Louis for sure! Need to go. The elk are easy to find and are not afraid of vehicles so you can get great pictures. Sadly we didn't see bison, but we had a great time anyway. We didn't get out of our vehicle but saw that there were some good walking trails and saw people walking out in the woods. Of we come back to this area I'm definitely going back here.

Great place to see bison, elk, deer, racoons for free. There is also a bird sanctuary ($12 per car). It's a drive through to view the bison. The elk can be seen by car or by hiking trails.

A beautiful free to enter park where you can picnic amongst the wildlife. The 546 acre park has geese, elk, waterfowl, turkeys, and white-tailed deer that room freely. In a fenced off area, there are bison which can be seen by driving through the area. The park is named in honor of one elk who walked the grounds decades ago. Well worth the visit!

We went to this park on the 4th of July. It's amazing that people can visit such a beautiful park for free. Driving through, you can see various animals. We saw bison, an elk, a deer, and many geese. If you have the time, definitely visit. It's truly a beautiful place.

This place was just amazing. The drive through the Elk and Bison is free and you can drive through as many times as you want to. It’s a one way and there’s room to pass other cars but animals are everywhere you just go slow. There’s one blind that you can walk to and observe the Elk. And there’s plenty of pull offs to observe too. Saw a bunch of Elk and one Bison, but went when it was hot. If you go in the mornings I’m sure you’ll get more activity! It was so nice and beautiful I definitely would come here again. Great place to bring your family and friends!

Scenic spot with an extensive Pleistocene-age fossil deposit, plus trails, picnic sites & a museum.
The creek is perfect for little kids. Never seemingly more than 3 feet deep with a very gentle current. Does get busy on a hot summer weekend, but people were pretty respectful of space. The trails around the creek are also nice and mostly light gravel so they stay pretty dry.If you are crawdad hunting, they seem to be scarce in the areas closest to the trail, I presume due to the pressure/traffic. Great spot for just hanging out. The overhanging trees keep much of the area shaded.

I was very disappointed with the entire place. The front was being renovated. They told use to use the back door which my son couldn’t use with his wheelchair. He would have had to go over a curb, then go down a steep hill that is way too dangerous for an electric wheelchair. I think they are looking for a lawsuit. They really need to read up on ADA building standards. The “museum” has only two display areas and none of the exhibits are real. $12 was too much for what little I got. We were in and out in under 5 minutes.

Found this gem through Google just driving through the area and we had to make a trip! It was definitely worth it. Just a warning, they mention a trail that's behind the main building but it is very confusing and not worth the walk. There's a little creek nearby that runs very low & it's a great place to bring your kids to play!

The Mastodon State Historic Site outside of Imperial, Missouri is a real gem in the Midwest. It's amazing to realize just 10,000 years ago mastodons were roaming Missouri eating the greenery from trees. Outside of the COVID-19 pandemic you can touch a real mastodon tooth and see real bones; this is a real treat for anyone but especially children. In addition, the movie teaches a great deal and is shown on the half hour. I highly recommend a visit and the entrance fee is very reasonable.

Great place to spend hot summer days. The creek is fantastic for all ages. Water shoes are a plus. Clean and well maintained. We have not visited the museum/visitors center in a couple years, but my kids still remember our last visit there. We did see quite a few copperhead snakes on 95° degree day, but they were keeping cool under foliage. Just something to be mindful of. Pack a lunch and spend the day.

Mastodon state historic Park was fairly interesting. I enjoyed the museum which was extremely informative. Not much to the trails outside, as they are surrounded by urban sprawl. You don't need much more than an hour to go to the museum.

I want to like this place much more than I actually did. I hiked here with my 3 kids- 13yo, 6yo, and 4yo. I failed to look up the museum hours ahead of time and without that being open, there was little information and no markers for the mastodon area or any replica of the mastodon bones outside of that.I think if you went during museum hours, it’d be amazing. It IS a truly special historical site, and I didn’t get to experience that by hiking the trails and I was really hoping to share that with my kids.River is accessible if you know- we did not.

Mastodon State Park is a hidden treasure in Imperial, MO. I first visited here when I was a kid and had no idea where this spot was, but my mother-in-law brought us two falls ago and I'm so glad she did! There's several short, well-maintained trails throughout the park. When I visited a week into November, the path was mostly cleared of leaves. There was a cute kids story about spiders on markers along one of the paths that read like a children's book.A pavilion, playground, and pit toilets are available on site. We enjoyed a picnic lunch under the pavilion, but had the choice to sit at picnic tables closer to the playground. My dog loves the creek running through the park and it provides extra pretty views set against the fall leaves and moss-covered rock. We met a man on the trail who grew up near the park and he led us to a spot that produces lots of mushrooms. We passed through a camping area that no one in our group knew existed. This would be a lovely weekend getaway, and very remote as there was no one else around.

This stroller-friendly small state park had a good little river with about a feet or so of fresh water, and pebbles that you can walk on. It has a small trail that you can finish within 30 min. Kids can enjoy at a play area next to parking lot. Overall a good place to drop by for an evening whenever you feel like

Very nice place to spend a couple hours learning. Went for their archeology day so there was an outdoor display of artifacts and furs, which was cool and free entry to museum. Museum was pretty neat and had a small movie to introduce the location and learn about the mastodon. Nice little hiking trail too. Overall, it was fun and glad we came. More of a visit once kind of place, but I'd definitely come back with kids in the future.

Visiting St. Lou from out of town and spent the day here, from about 10a-3p, and an employee called the cops on me! I guess to investigate why I was there so long.If the employee who did that is reading this, I was there so long because it was a nice park, up until that point. This park should be a safe place for anyone to spend any amount of time in, dawn to dusk.

I will say there is some construction as of now happening on the road by some trails (so beware of work site noises) but……I Had a wonderful hike here today! I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, but I still love these trails and the visitors center. This is a unique area to have in Missouri - so go support this park!

As an archaeologist, I can tell you the museum is a bit dated and could use some updated information panels. The worst being the small video that they play that looks like it is from 1998. However, it does give a good representation of the excavations as well as having life-sized replicas of the megafuana that inhabited this area. It's awe-inspiring for many kids, and I remember seeing this place as a kid and being awestruck by the size of a mastodon and ground sloth. The hiking trail is also very pleasant and takes you close to where the archaeological excavations took place. Worth a summer trip with the kids.

The Saint Louis Zoo, originally the 1904 World's Fair Flight Cage, is now a renowned 90-acre zoo within Forest Park. It houses over 14,000 animals across six different zones. Visitors can explore "Rivers Edge" to see elephants and hippos or "The Wild" for bears and primates. The zoo also features historic attractions like the original Flight Cage and Primate House from the World's Fair era.
Great zoo. We were traveling through the area and stayed an extra day based on the recommendation of friends. We were not disappointed in the least. We spent the day there with our 3-year old and had a great time. The zoo has a great layout and is very clean. Staff was also very helpful and friendly.

St. Louis Zoo exceeded all my expectations. The entire zoo was impeccably clean, making the experience even more enjoyable. The animal exhibits were well-maintained, and it was clear that the animals were well cared for. The variety of species on display was impressive, offering a great mix of both local and exotic animals. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions. The layout was easy to navigate, and there were plenty of spots to rest and grab a bite. Overall, it was a fantastic day out for all ages.

We loved going to the Zoo! Growing up in San Diego we always loved the San Diego Zoo so it was a fun experience and see another large Zoo. Free admission is amazing! Buying the additional attractions is a fun plus for those who want a few extra things to do. The wrist bands made it easy to walk into the extra attractions without having to keep track of tickets. It was clean and well kept. If you are a member of the Zoo the attraction tickets are 50% off. If you are a member of any local Zoo they will honor the 50% off as long as you show the active membership. I didn't know that until I walked up to the window to purchase our tickets, so that was a bonus! We went during the Halloween season and the decorations were awesome! We ate lunch at the Lakeside Cafe. The lines looked long but they were pumping food out quickly. The standard kid friendly options are available and some adult options as well. They did offer alcohol, limited selection but it was offered at a reasonable price actually. The food wasn't crazy priced either, but what you would expect from any fast food place in 2023. Getting around was easy even when it got congested with people. It was a cooler day when we went so the animals were active and out playing. Overall it was a great experience all day and we will definitely make our way back to spend more time looking at all the animals.

Saint Louis Zoo was nice for a free zoo. We were there as a family of 4. The not so great first. There needs to be more signs telling you were to go to see things. The trail leading up too the elephant exhibit was very disappointing. That side of the zoo was like the bad side off town with many empty strip mall spaces. On the other side of the zoo was very pretty and full exhibits. We also enjoyed the butterfly house along with the insects. But the biggest thing we enjoyed was the penguin house was wonderful and was a perfect place to cool off. The train was nice really never expected it to be such a long train ride. The kids also loved the carousel. But I would say it would have been nice if they would have been playing traditional carousel music not standard music. One last gripe no place should ever sell bottle water for $4.50, two bucks max. Over all we had a great time on a very hot day.

We’re from Las Vegas and absolutely LOVE this zoo! It’s FREE ADMISSION and placed in a gorgeous park setting. Food is great, employees are always super nice, and the zoo is large! Lots of wonderful animals to see. If you’re in the area, it’s a MUST visit attraction❤️

The Saint Louis Zoo is a standout destination for animal lovers and families alike. Nestled in Forest Park, the zoo offers a remarkable array of wildlife exhibits and engaging experiences. From the expansive River's Edge, showcasing exotic animals like giraffes and hippos, to the charming Penguin and Puffin Coast, the zoo delivers an immersive experience that’s both educational and entertaining. The zoo’s commitment to conservation and education is evident in its well-maintained habitats and informative displays. Best of all, admission is free, making it accessible to everyone. With its beautiful landscapes, diverse animal species, and family-friendly atmosphere, the Saint Louis Zoo provides a memorable outing for visitors of all ages. And it's free!!!! Parking is either for $20 at the lot or free on a side road before the entrance

WOW! Very impressive zoo! I can not get over how well planned the layout and exhibits are throughout the whole zoo. I've often heard how impressive the St Louis Zoo is, but I was not expecting it to be the best zoo that we've ever visited, especially at a cost of $0. The grounds, exhibits, and bathrooms were all in excellent & clean condition. All of the major exhibits had polite & knowledgeable staff members ready to answer all kinds of questions about the animals and the zoo. — FYI: Instead of paying $20 to park in the zoo parking lots, drive around and find free parking, only having five extra minutes of walk time. — However, I do encourage you to spend liberally in the gift shops and food concessions in order to support the zoo's expenses of their staff & the excellent animal conservation programs the zoo is directly involved in.

The Zoo is free. The parking is $20 , we arrived on a Friday about 12:30 pm and it was busy and full, the heat in early june is no joke. Everything that’s additional you have to pay as well for example the train rides, carousel, sting rays.. stuff like that. There is a lot of Cafe options to eat and drink, beautiful scenery, trees, gardens, the birds… I recommend you buy the train ride from the beginning so you don’t have to walk because it is a very very long walk.
Stephy R — Google review
Can’t really complain too much, as it’s a huge zoo for free. I know a lot of other reviews talk about the fee for parking, but just know there’s a ton of free street parking, just got to find an open spot and maybe walk a little. Quite a few exhibits were closed and/or the “animals were hiding”. THE CABYBABRAS ARE GONE! The volunteer said one of them had passed so they couldn’t keep just one, it now lives at another unknown zoo. The volunteers are very nice and helpful. The actual staff however was quite rude. Also, not that the zoo can control this, the patrons were very rude. Lots of pushing parents and children. Everyone wanted their kid to be up front, took a few strollers to the ankle. Not super well-kept, quite a bit of overgrowth and trash on the ground. Didn’t do any of the paid attractions, so can’t speak to the train ride, sting rays, etc. Overall, it’s fine, kind of a “one and done” attraction.
Dev S — Google review
Always a fun time at the zoo. Always free. Be prepared ahead of time. Lots of walking, and it is best to have a specific plan. Passes can be bought on entry so you can enjoy some of the paid attractions, and they are worth the investment. It takes some time to get through to see everything, so it’s best to come early, and take time to rest. Earlier in the day is best, since, as it gets later in the day, many of the animals are pretty much done for the day and inactive.Amenities are overpriced, but not unexpected.A great time for the young and the young at heart.

We had the best time! The primates exhibit was the best we've ever been to! I love that there is a ramp that goes up throughout the outdoor play area and you see the monkeys play upclose! Stroller and scooter friendly! Love the puffins, penguins, polar bear and kangaroos! Seriously will return!

Loved this zoo. It is big enough that if you do the shows too it could easily be a two day trip which is what our plan was. The zoo is free to get into but to do any of the shows, train or carousel you have to pay for them. I recommend getting the day arm band and doing all the shows the same day (park on north side closest to the shows) and the animals on that side then on the next day do the rest of the zoo. The zoo was clean and there was enough employees stationed around to help you if you need any. Would very much recommend going to this zoo if you are in the area.

Beautiful zoo! Lots of animals, inside and outside. Great layout, many volunteers able and willing to guide. Many interactive exhibits for the kids. Fantastic way to spend a day.

$20 for parking and free entry gave us a pretty incredible 4-5 hours of seeing exhibits! I was very impressed with the diverse amount of animals and the cleanliness of the park. Would highly recommend getting there early before crowds move in.

Love this zoo, it's huge! It's specially awesome that this zoo is free!! Definitely recommend getting the adventure pass if you plan on watching all the shows and using the train. Unfortunately the train was broken down when we were there so we didn't get to use it. Make sure to come early, especially in the summer. It gets crowded!! Also recommend taking advantage of being able to bring in your own food and drinks.
Kaylene D — Google review
Free to visit! Parking up close cost us $20. Food and drinks are expensive. Nearly $4.50-$5 for a typical bottle of water. The cafe is delicious. The zoo was clean inside and out. Parking lot was also clean. Staff are fun, friendly, and informative. The animals looked to be active, healthy, and in good living conditions. We did not pay for any of the extra attractions. Wonderful family memories and moments.

The zoo was amazing! So many animals to see, I love that you can get a closer look at some of the animals as opposed to other Zoo's. The walk through enclosures were beautiful, the kids had a blast. Very clean and workers were very friendly. We will definitely be returning!

We have been to many zoos.. San Francisco, Sydney Aus, Phoenix, San Diego...All are good. However, there is something special about STL.Perhaps like Forrest Park being established for 1904 worlds fair gives it charm. The constant updating really shows.Highly recommend a visit. Wander around the grounds on a nice spring day. Charming. I grew up coming to this zoo, and it is amazing.Plus, there is no admission charge.Check out some pics below. There is not enough space for all we have.

This is a great zoo. we got to the park it's located in early to get parking. They have lots of parking but over side rigs or rv & bus parking is roadside only! We arrived a hr early and got parking 1/4 mile from the entrance! We spent 3 hrs in the park. We could have spent a lot longer. I will definitely recommend this zoo in the future!!

I have worked at the zoo operating the carousel and in other attractions for awhile. The atmosphere here is great. The people are happy, helpful and friendly - employees and guests alike. You will find it clean… the restrooms, paths, rides and eateries are spotless or someone is on the way to wipe away any spot. Consider visiting off season too. You’ll be amazed at how intimate you will find your experiences with the animals. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This zoo is phenomenal! We explored it all day! There are so many cool animal enclosures. There were many volunteers around the park so you could ask questions. The stingray encounter was a favorite in my family. The best part about it was it was free. If you find parking the street that is free as well. We highly recommend it!

Such a nice zoo &it's even better because it's free! $20 to park &it wasn't a horrible walk from the parking lot. The zoo is huge so we didn't see everything but will definitely be planning another trip!

This is a beautiful zoo! The vibrant metal art really bring a happy vibe throughout as you're walking through the grounds. It was pleasant surprise and to enter is free! I would definitely recommend this Zoo. I think due to the time of year (late March) much of the food places were closed - but there were tons of options! Parking close is $20 but there is also a lot of street parking if you don't mind walking a little. I look forward to visiting again!

Was just as great as it was 11 years ago. I grew up at this zoo, and so did my kids. Haven't been to a zoo since i moved away. So much the same and some really cool new things. We did about 98% in 3 hours. It's definitely a recommendation when folks ask what to do in St. Louis.

This place is always perfect, interesting, fun and friendly! And it’s free!! The weather was perfect and it wasn’t too crowded. We visited the kiosks to get some refreshments and snacks and well as buy souvenirs and toys for the kids. The Saint Louis Zoo never fails us on those days when we just want to go out with the kids. The variety of animals, amounts of enclosures, specialty centers (primate house, bird house etc.), interactive nature and walks, shows, entertainments, foods, activities.. makes this the best Zoo in the United States of America!

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis

Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, a historic church with a green-tiled dome and bell towers, was constructed over seven years starting in 1907. The Romanesque exterior features gray granite walls, twin towers, and a massive central dome covered in glittering green tiles. The interior boasts one of the largest collections of mosaics in the western hemisphere, with over 41 million pieces of tile used to create the artwork.
We hopped on a basic trolley tour of St. Louis, and boy were we delighted that this was a stop along the way (the only stop where we deboarded). Over 40 million mosaic tiles painstakingly installed over 40 years - I think that my mouth was open the entire time. It's best to visit outside of the worship schedule so that you can tour the entire interior.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cathedral Basilica of St. LouisThe Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis is simply breathtaking! Known for its extraordinary collection of mosaics—one of the largest in the world—this basilica is a true marvel. The intricate artwork, vibrant colors, and detailed craftsmanship make it a must-see for anyone visiting St. Louis. The architecture is equally impressive, blending Romanesque and Byzantine styles in a way that creates a peaceful yet awe-inspiring atmosphere. It’s a beautiful place to sit, reflect, and appreciate the artistry and history of this sacred space. Highly recommend visiting to experience its grandeur and spiritual ambiance firsthand!

This is one of the most beautiful cathedral we've seen around the world. It has the most beautiful mosaic that rivals those in France and UK. In fact it's the largest collection of mosaic in the world. Building the church took 7 years, but the mosaic work took 76 years. If you visit St. Louis, this is a site that you should not miss. It's literally jaw-dropping. Amazing!

What an awesome church to go see and tour. We decided to go to mass then go on the tour and our guide was so great and answered all my questions since I'm not Catholic. This church is truly a work of art, very beautiful and precious as an old structure in St. Louis. There is so much symbolism is art in the church it's a must see. Be reverent and respectful if you go because it is a working church with many people coming and going.

Absolutely incredible/beautiful church. While I am not overly religious, I was in all of his beauty. Very clean and highly polished marble large wooden pews, huge vaulted ceilings, filled with gorgeous mosaics. They have on display the chair that the pope sat in on a visit. As well as a rare 14th century choir book on display. Regardless of your religious affiliations if you have the chance to stop by and see this basilica, it is well worth your time.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis is a true marvel and a must-visit when in the city. The intricate mosaic work, which forms the largest collection in the world, is stunning and took over a century to complete. Best of all, entry is free. However, make sure to avoid visiting during Mass times, as tours are not allowed then. Highly recommend visiting this place.

This church is jaw-dropping. I never expected this in St. Louis. I was a traveller from Columbus, OH, in town for a wedding. My greatest fear is always parking, but the street behind the church had free street parking at a diagonal. There is also a lot attached to the church, and some people parked next door at Catholic Charities for Mass it seemed. The structure with its dome seemed like something one would expect to see in Rome, not Midwestern USA. Entered through the side door and encountered the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. There was just an air of peace all about. The main sanctuary one cannot enter without looking up!Every aspect of this church is filled with art and detail. I was astounded that this church is not very old. It is an incredible feat of beauty. In a world today where beauty has declined in our architecture, this church stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder that this world needs beauty desperately, and the hands that wrought this must've been assisted by angels themselves.

Absolutely gorgeous Cathedral! It reminds me of all the cathedrals in Paris, which makes sense because St. Louis was originally a French city. Beautiful place to walk through, meditate, and if you get a chance, make sure you check out the old manuscript Bible. It IS still an active church, so make sure you go when they’re not holding services if you want to tour the cathedral.

Go here! Not religious, but did find a place to write the name of a deceased loved one for a prayer which was really neat. Just so beautiful and amazing place. Go down to the museum downstairs, very cool!A massive and impressive cathedral that combines both Eastern and Western European architectural styles. As impressive as the exterior is, the interior is on a whole other level. It might not be so ancient as the European churches. However, the number of mosaic pieces is incredible. The work that was done 100 years old is unbelievably gorgeous...You feel like you are a part of this huge masterpiece.Over 40 million mosaic tiles painstakingly installed over 40 years - I think that my mouth was open the entire time. It's best to visit outside of the worship schedule so that you can tour the entire interior.Must recommended

Unquestionably the most gorgeous church I've set foot in. I was fortunate enough to attend Easter Sunday mass. The church was full to the brim with fellow worshippers. The magnificent beautiful shone through like sunlight through a stained glass window. The walls are adorned with several biblical scenes that are famous and well represented. The priest was full of the holy spirit and his homily was amazing. If you're passing through the area on the weekend, your Sunday obligation should be spent here.

This is an impressive structure on the outside but the interior is amazing. The pictures don’t do it justice. You can’t recreate the lighting or the impressive scale of the inside.

I have been to many basilicas in the country, and the cathedral basilica of St. Louis is my favorite. Besides its religious significance, the architecture itself is a piece of art. I spent a good hour appreciating the interior and all.The skull of saint jean de brebeuf was available for people to pay respect and pray over on 2/25/2024. There was a short wait of about 15-20 minutes, and it was very well worth it.Highly recommend for believers and non-believers to visit!

The Missouri Botanical Garden, located southwest of Downtown St. Louis, is a 79-acre botanical paradise founded in 1859. It boasts a diverse array of meticulously maintained gardens such as the Gladney Rose Garden, Seiwa-en Japanese Garden, Biblical Garden, Ottoman Garden, Blake Boxwood Garden, English Woodland Garden and more. The iconic Climatron greenhouse houses a lush lowland rainforest with over 1,500 plant species.
I first visit back in the late summer during a blown glass exhibit; Chihuly items in every corner that were wildly complex and beautiful. I spent almost 7 hours on the grounds and met a very kind guide in one of the out buildings. We talked for an hour and he made me feel at home, educated me on some of the ceiling murals and told me where else to look for great exhibits. The gardens and all the butterflies and wildlife brought me a lot of warm, happy memories. Now that it’s right in my backyard, I’ll get a season pass for 2024. I can’t wait to spend more slow afternoons here.

Went to view their lights. Very impressive and well organized for the amount of people who are visiting. The parking lots fill up and while it may be intimidating to find street parking, I did get pretty lucky. Can’t say that the experience will be shared by others, but don’t feel overwhelmed! It’s a one way trail to enjoy the lights, so be sure to enjoy everything as you come across!

We came to experience the Japanese festival that is held here and had a beautiful experience. I definitely recommend getting your tickets in advance online. It was a huge time saver. We had to park quite far and walk to the event, but it was well worth it. The botanical gardens are designed beautifully. The festival itself had so many stations and displays that we found it hard to see everything in one day. So much fun and so pretty!

The gardens are mostly outdoors and very extensive. It’s a wonderful place to stroll and admire the many different gardens. The indoor children’s area was really interactive and fun for my 3 kids. The outdoor children’s garden is an extra fee to enter which is not ideal and it closed an hour before the rest of the gardens. It was still worth it for us to experience. We used reciprocal membership benefits from our local garden membership to enter the rest of the gardens for free.

We enjoyed our nice walk around the grounds seeing all of the interesting art sculptures and blown glass art that was mixed in with the beautiful flower, succulents, and more. Definitely recommend if you are in the area or visiting. Well worth the money. The place is very tranquil and the gardens are well kept and beautiful. There is a lot of walking involved if you want to see everything but you won't be disappointed. Very large botanical garden. Plan to spend a couple of hours here, and take your time so you can experience everything! They have beautiful walking paths that have benches throughout for breaks along with restrooms. The fountains and ponds around the garden are well maintained. Each plant is labeled, beautifully displayed. There are several activities to do for all ages including a seek and find, children's area, and section to feed ducks! The Dome is awesome for the tropical style plants. I plan on visiting again and revisiting some of my favorite sections. The desert area was under construction during my visit (but that was ok because I have already spent over 3 hours there). I did notice a garden bus to quickly travel to a section of the area you wish to view. It is very affordable, and I am excited for my next visit.

This is a relaxing place to wander around or sit by a fountain. It is a great place for families (has a children's garden) as well as couples and singles. There were a few wildlife sightings around the grounds, as well as a tiny gecko in the Climatron that peeked out from behind a tree (we felt we were really lucky to witness that as most people didn't even notice it)!We didn't take the tram although it seems like a great idea if you are short on time or have trouble walking. Also, one of the gardens was closed for renovations while we were there but there was so much to see, even a quick walk through would take an hour. Go when you have at least two to really enjoy it at a leisurely pace. We spent over two hours, stopping a lot to enjoy the plants and flowers but didn't see everything. We skipped a lot of the Japanese garden and the "homeowner" garden. Also didn't tour the house as it wasn't open when we were upon it. We didn't eat on site either. Unfortunately, we left twenty minutes before closing and the gift shop was already closed!

Gosh I feel silly for not coming sooner. The garden is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. The staff are just as pleasant. My fiance still has an Illinois license but we reside together, she gave us a pass & we’re able to get the resident discounts. The clerk at the children’s garden said he had 5 free passes and we paid nothing to enter. The salad was delicious and the restaurant was beautiful and delicious as well. Parking was great we parked on a lot 2 blocks away & walked through a nice & quiet neighborhood. The splash pad was the best, bring your child’s swimsuit and towel. We spent 4 hours there and didn’t get a chance to finish, will be back!!! Highly recommend for family days, a date, or girls outing.

The Robert Wadlow Statue in Alton, Illinois is a tribute to one of the city's most famous residents. Robert Wadlow gained worldwide recognition as the tallest man who ever lived, earning a place in the Guinness World Records. Born in 1918, he reached an astounding height of 8 feet and 11 inches before his untimely death at the age of 22.
Great for teaching kids! You can reach them about genetics and math (size and scale) and then go see his statue. Kids love to sit in his chair or stand next to him/ under his hand. Lovely tribute to Mr. Wadlow.

Nice tribute! Just parked on the street and statue is right in the middle of the park. No fee to see it or park.

We had a wonderful church service on a beautiful fall morning here at the Robert Wadlow statue. Absolutely, I would encourage everyone to go and visit. There is so much history to learn all around that area.

Such an interesting bit of history. It's very sobering to see in person how tall he really was and imagine how uncomfortable he must have been his entire life. Worth the visit.

Fascinating man, seeing the statue puts his size into perspective.

This is a small tribute to the Gentle Giant. It is in a small grass area with brick walkway that is more of an in-memorium of the local celebrity than a it is a park. Nonetheless this is a worthwhile visit because you can stand next to a life sized sculpture and replica chair that he used.

Wow! You just don't realize how tall a 9 foot guy is until you stand next to one! This is a interesting and sad story as he only lived to 22 years old.Worth the stop if near the area.

We were so excited to stop and see the statue of the tallest man in the world. It was raining so no one was there. If you are in the area, stop and check it out! Also research Robert Wadlow. Very interesting!!

City Museum is a one-of-a-kind attraction that combines art installation, playground, and discovery center all in one. Housed in a massive 600,000 square-foot former shoe company building, this museum is the result of local artists' creativity and resourcefulness. It features an array of found objects such as old chimneys, salvaged bridges, construction cranes, miles of tile, and even abandoned airplanes.
Such a cool place to check out! I went in with no idea what to expect and came out in awe. So many different cool things to look at and stuff to climb on. Definitely a cool place to bring kids but a lot of fun to do as an adult as well!

Highly recommend going here. It’s not for the helicopter parents as you will lose your kids more often than not. It’s less of a museum and more of a really big park with some museum features. Super cool place, lots of climbing and slides plus other fun things - so many hidey holes.

This was a pleasant suprise for my family. We had a great time and we could have spent all day here easily. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend knee pads for some areas. We will definitely be back. There is So much to see and do here. Get there early for parking. The roof top was a fun experience as well.

Run, don't walk, to the St. Louis City Museum!!!! This is an absolute MUST SEE if you have kiddos! The caves are phenomenal, and my kids loved them (bring your $1 Harbor Freight head lamps!). The roof is absolutely amazing, and the outdoor exhibits are a stunning example of ingenuity, using materials at hand, and are a welder's dream! Rent a locker for coats, buy a beer on the roof and let the kids play, and have fun being a kid for a day! The museum exhibits. Are fun, and in particular. I enjoyed the "privy" exhibit and the opera posters!

This place is FANTASTIC for your climbers! We spent several hours here and didn't get through it all because even our Energizer bunny was worn out. I recommend either bringing or buying the knee pads at the gift shop for $10 each pair and wear sneakers. I also recommend always having a check-in spot because you never know where your child will end up and it may be on another floor. I fit in the spaces but it was tight and I soon tired so I would hang at our check in spot on each floor. We paid for upgraded tickets, but I never saw anybody checking wristbands. If you want your kids to have tons of fun and you want to wear them out, this is the place! We will be back!
Julie B — Google review
The City Museum is EASILY, one of the coolest places we have EVER taken our kids!!! Hands down! I'm not sure who had more fun, the kids or us! Come ready to play and wear clothes that you wouldn't mind snags and rips in. Lots of crawling, small openings, and passages. Benches to sit if you don't want to play, too. They do offer knee pads in the gift shop. It took me 10 minutes to go back and buy some. I don't think the photos do it justice - this place is amazing and you should definitely go!! I would describe it more as four stories (including the roof which is totally worth it!) for interactive place ground that looks like all the nature scapes you don't want them hiding in. Mixed with artistic welded scapes that make for a wild adventure! If you've read this much, you're interested, and you should just go!Tip: Matching shirts made it easy to find our family quickly. Would advise, at times, you might get separated.
Ashley P — Google review
All I can say is WOW. The creativity and whimsy in this place is beyond compare. Every inch of space contains something to climb in or on, slide down, or crawl through. The roof is amazing, gives perfect views of the city, and the outdoor climbing structures blew our minds. Good value for the price, although I do wish everything was included for one price. We got lucky and got street parking but they do have a paid parking lot. Come early, it will get full! They have food and drinks to offer (pricey but convenient), so you can literally spend all day here and never see the same thing twice! Highly recommend!

Where do I even start! I have visited St. Louis many times over the course of my life which means I’ve explored the City Museum when I was a child, teenager, college student, young adult and now in my 30s. Each time is more enchanting than the last. The art is so unique and quirky and finding new nooks and tunnels is rewarding and exciting.I have been with my mom when she was 60 and just visited with my boyfriend who only had great things to say. We went Friday evening and it was fairly quiet so we were able to really explore unencumbered for about two hours. Being able to climb all over, under and through the incredible sculptures feels so freeing. The City Museum is an incomparable experience, my favorite place to share with loved ones, and has brought me joy at every age.

Amazing place.. I had so much fun. I vent there with my husband on Friday night. Who was really nice not everything is so easy to do but there are so many activities for everybody to enjoy. Just make sure you don’t have a backpack because you’re not allowed to go down the slides with it.

This place should have been fun. It was COMPLETELY RUINED by awful employees that spent their time hollering at children for random rules they seemed to make up on the spot.We went up into the spiderweb display, and there was an employee laying in front of the entrance chatting on her cell phone. She intermittently hollered at little children coming up the alternate ladder. Now remember, she's laying in front of the entrance... She said there was a sign at the bottom saying exit only... But she was yelling at little kids that couldn't read. She said she couldn't be stationed at the "exit" because she had to watch the web (we returned later and there was no employee napping in the web)My son got involved in building a block tower with other kids. They were playing happily for probably 15 minutes. An employee came over and knocked their tower over because it was a foot outside the designated zone (it was not blocking a walkway or anything) this was upsetting to my 4 yr old and he threw a block... Which didn't hit anyone... And the employee said he wasn't allowed to play in the blocks anymore. My toddler climbed the slide in the toddler zone, an employee yelled at meMy toddler got ahead of me on the stairs and we got to a slide she wasn't big enough for... The employee started hollering (at my toddler) "ma'am! Ma'am!" As though a 2 year old would ever respond to that... She didn't block access to the slide for the l little one. Just ineffectively yelled at her until I got there.Overall, it was loud, it was hot, it was overcrowded, and the employees spoiled the fun. The employees need training in how to deal with children. I would not recommend this place.

Went here for my daughter birthday. She and her friends had a blast. First time going. As a parent this place is a workout. So many different caves, small holes to go through and it's huge!!! I lost the kids a few times throughout the mazes but it was so worth going. Highly recommend to run your small kids energy out for the day and just enjoy and have a great time!

This place is amazing! Send a phone or walkie talkie in with your kids though!! Lol Adults can't fit through all the crawl spaces! Our whole family loved it!! We spent almost 4hrs there &still didn't explore everything. It's warm in there but tolerable. Take a water bottle, there's fountains available to refill. Bathrooms available everywhere throughout as well. Saw some people wearing knee pads &that's a fantastic idea!

My husband & I visited City Museum because of a recommendation from a friend! We really enjoyed our experience there & luckily the weather cooperated with us enough to where we were able to do some of the outside exploring & climbing before it rained. My favorite part had to be the slides! The 10 story slide was closed, which was a bummer, but we were able to do the 5 story slide instead. The only reason I’ve given it a 4 instead of a 5 is because so many slides were closed! We explored and climbed our way up to at least 3-4 closed slides that seemed so fun. Other than that, it was a really cool experience!
Rose T — Google review
My 13 year old and I had such a fun visit in mid-July. There is so much to see and do, you can’t possibly see it all in one day. So many nooks, tunnels and passageways to explore. Most employees were friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great time and would love to visit again, if in the area.A few things that brought it down to 4 stars, instead of 5: 1)We bought tickets in advance, but it ended up raining on the day we went and we never got to do any of the outside stuff. Next time, I would wait to purchase tickets and only buy what I could use and not waste money. 2)The 5 story slide was open and very fun, but the 10 story slide was closed, which we didn’t know until we were trying to climb up to it and could not. So that was a bummer. 3) The employees in the art room really seemed to hate their job. They were rude and unhelpful. It was difficult to get any information from them and they were clearly bothered when anyone walked into the room.
Carolyn K — Google review
There really is no place like city museum on earth. We had to buy a pass for our 5 night trip here because the kids want to go back every day. So much to do and explore and after 2 visits we still haven't done everything. Lots for younger kids too, but 8 and 10 are great ages to climb everywhere.

The City Museum in St. Louis is an absolute gem! My partner got us tickets, initially thinking it was a different type of museum, and we were a bit confused upon arrival, thinking it was just for kids. But what an adventure it turned out to be! We explored the caves, which I thought we might get lost in, but it was all part of the fun.The highlight of our visit was a wonderful vendor at the popcorn stand. My partner mentioned to her that we mistakenly thought the museum was for adults and came for the arts. This amazing lady immediately went into action, explaining that the museum is filled with art, thanks to the owner's eclectic vision. She directed us to all the hidden art pieces and guided us on where to find them. Thanks to her, we didn't miss out on any of the artistic treasures the museum has to offer. The City Museum is not only a fantastic place for children to have hands-on experiences but also a wonderful spot for adults to explore and appreciate art. Highly recommend!

A great place to visit if you are in St. Louis. Seems like everyone in the city were there. Good for kids and adults. We were there for hours. The use of space is impressive. There is a tunnel or a slide everywhere.

This place is incredibly cool and mind blowing. We spent hours exploring the intricate tunnels, amazing exhibits, and cool rooftop, we could have spent many more hours and would have found plenty more to explore. Seriously, explore every corner you can of this place. It will not disappoint. Bring your kids but dress them in bright colors so it easier to spot them, bring/use knee pads (it'll save your knees, I promise) and wear tennis shoes. We love the City Museum so much, and 100% recommend you give it a visit.

A very unique place for all ages to visit in St. Louis. Even better for kids because they can literally climb around EVERYWHERE! There are four levels included in the general admission and each level has a different theme. Each level has different food options and many available tables to eat at. Staff was friendly as well. We paid $8 each for the rooftop and it was alright. Wish that was just part of the admission. The best part was the tank you can put your hand in and the fish bite off your dead skin. It was so weird, yet cool!!!

This place is amazing. We came here for our ten year old son, and ended up finding our own personal child again. I haven't run around so much in years. Every where you look there is something to climb into, climb on, crawl through. It really is endless. You truly need an entire day just to do this one attraction

This place was amazing! I visited on a Monday with my partner. Both of us are in our early 30s and we had a blast! If you have a playful attitude and enjoy being able to crawl and climb around while also exploring aquariums or other dispersed historical info nuggets, then you will love this place. They do have drinks for those 21+ if you want a little edge to your exploration. We arrived when they opened at 10 am and spent 4 hours running around, having a great time.

A delightful work of interactive art, not at all boring! Fun for adults, though kids would adore this. Watching the small video upstairs about the making of the museum gave a small glimpse of the hard work that went into the beginning. Unfortunately it was raining and the rooftop was closed, but looked like more cool madness put together. Hope this stays open for many generations to enjoy. A unique gem!

This place was one of the most unique experiences we've ever encountered. With five-story slides, a school bus hanging over a building, an aircraft suspended over the city sidewalks, and a simulated indoor cave in the basement, it's a labyrinth of unknown exploration. We decided to take a random weekend anniversary to St Louis, not knowing what we'd encounter, and this place kept us guessing. If you ever visit this city, go there.

Located in downtown St. Louis, Busch Stadium is the home of the St. Louis Cardinals, a professional major league baseball team with an impressive 44,494 seating capacity and a retro-style design. The stadium offers tours that allow visitors to experience the view from radio commentary booths, see trophies won by the team, and enjoy stunning vistas of the city skyline and Gateway Arch from the bleachers. It's also worth noting that during its inaugural season, this stadium witnessed the St.
Awesome time and they really knew how to maintain crowd flow and control.. Food and beverage prices were JUST ASTRONOMICALLY RIDICULOUS. something has to be done about this.. Otherwise awesome concert and outstanding staff services and experience.. Well done Busch stadium.

It is one of the best outdoor baseball stadiums in the MLB. The atmosphere here is incredible and takes me back to how old school baseball used to feel. The skyline views with the Arch in the background are amazing. The unique food and craft beer choices are great, especially the corned beef hot dogs. This makes a great family-friendly outing or date night! The Cardinals are lucky to play here with such a fun fan base.

We saw the Cards play the Guardians a night game. Full disclosure I'm not a Cards fan but we had complimentary tickets so we went to socialize. Our tickets were in the party suite where we had free food and drinks with a bartender and open bar. The party suite was air conditioned and had lots of tables and TVs to view the game, and the food was set up buffet style to help yourself. We had access to go out sliding doors to sit in seats to watch the game outside as well. The food consisted of peanuts, cheeseburgers, nachos, cookies and the like, nothing outstanding. At the bar you could get sodas, canned beers, wine, and mixed drinks. The energy level at Busch is lacking perhaps it's due to the fact that the Cards weren't doing well at all this season or maybe the fans just aren't that enthusiastic as compared to those at Wrigley. The stadium was not filled it was rather sparse. The Cards lost and the game was just lack luster. The stadium is well kept and clean and so was the party suite we were at but I'm glad we didn't have to pay for these tickets. I am a Cubs fan and even when they are playing horribly the energy and vibe is still high at Wrigley, and the place is still fun and packed. I doubt I will be attending another game at Busch anytime soon.

The stadium is very comfortable to sit in. We were at Yankee Stadium a bit more than a week prior and there is a lot more leg room and the seats are at a less slope. We sat in a similar location at both places.Complaint: On the ballpark app there were several gf items listed. Nobody could tell me where to go to find food. I ended up very hungry as I thought I would be able to eat safely like Yankee Stadium.

Incredible stadium and experience. The museum across the street is unbelievable, getting to hold one of Musial's game-used bats was pure joy. Take time to visit the Gateway National Park along the Mississippi, surprisingly peaceful spot.Only complaint is this was the second stadium this year that wouldn't accept cash. At least St Louis, unlike the Mariners, told me where I could convert my cash to a debit card I could use throughout the stadium. Still utterly stupid to refuse cash.

This stadium is a perfect location with great facilities. It’s easy to get here by public transit. I would highly recommmend using the light rail, as it drops you off right at the gates. The view of the city from the stadium is unique with the arch in the outfield. Resold tickets seem to be cheaper than most stadiums. There are plenty of food options around the stadium and in it. The fan experience isn’t overkill with silly games, light shows, etc. the fans are there to watch baseball. The neighborhood is safe during games.

Loads of fun for the whole family or even just a fun night/day out with friends or significant other! As with every entertainment venue, the food was pricey. But we enjoyed the shrimp and beef tacos at the Mission Taco Joint and my daughter enjoyed a chicken combo from It's Big Chicken. We did this as a field trip for our homeschooled daughter and you can go to their website and receive a certificate for attendance of First Game as a credit per lady at the entrance. We found the certificate and filled it out; however we have not verified this credit claim is true.Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves for our first time at this stadium❤️🥰

Going to all 30 stadiums and nearly finished, this is in 10-14 range overall. St. Louis has a faithful fan base and the history is everywhere you go. Before even getting inside the park you’ll enter ballpark village with awesome outside areas. Cardinals HOF is outside the stadium and requires a separate fee. Entering the park was easy although you can’t make a whole walk around the stadium. Plenty of statues and history everywhere. Concessions were good and priced consistently with others. Most disappointed by no team stores in the stadium offer a military discount, only the main team store not accessible from inside the park during game day. This is the only place to do this it was annoying and I embarrassedly had to put a yearbook back because of the lack of discount. Seats were cushioned on bottom sections. Great place. No spots to fill water bottles either.

Visited Busch Stadium while I was in town. I had always wanted to check out a game here. It was all I hoped it would be.Gorgeous stadium with lots of great views of the field. The thing I was most impressed with was the traffic going in and out. I’m from the Northeast so I’m used to tons of traffic at Yankee stadium and in Philly. The game I went to was almost sold out, and from the traffic going in and out, you’d think there wasn’t even a game. It was terrific.Awesome places to get food or a drink right outside the stadium as well. I had a great time.

Our family had the best time here. We were in the 304 suite this time. A gentleman hosting this room was very nice and accommodating to everyone. There was a rain delay this day for severe weather. The grounds crew did an amazing job preparing the field after a two hour delay. The food and drinks were great and plenty of it. We cannot wait to come back later this year for the build-a-bear giveaway for the kiddos. Go Cardinals!

Cheap seats purchased on one of the ticket hub sites because this was a rescheduled game that had been postponed earlier in the season. I got an AMAZING seat for less than $17 with fees - front row of the first tier. And because this was an afternoon game, I picked seats where I would not be sitting in the sun.Busch is relatively new and quite modern. I found the seats to be quite comfortable and there are a bunch of different options for concessions. I stuck to the usual hot dog and beer, which was of course not inexpensive but that's tradition. Plenty of rest rooms even during the break between innings.Did the Cardinals win? Not today, they were getting beaten badly by the visiting team. But it was still a fun time for me!

One of the nicer stadiums we have been to. Loved the mini donuts that we got filled up in a bowl with vanilla frosting and cinnamon sugar. By far the best stadium food we have had. Great view of the arch and lots of Cardinal history displayed all around
Jeff M — Google review
Very clean facilities & a # of food options though very expensive as is the parking in the area during game-day... with the overall performance of the Cardinals being so low energy, it wasn't really worth it (folks were already leaving as we found our seats). Went to check off a bucket-list & support the home-team but it was kinda sad. The most exciting part was when everyone participated in a wave that went around the stadium a few times!

Fantastic stadium. Not a bad seat in the stadium. Even the outfield seems like you are in the action and you get to sit right next to the bullpen. Sections nearer to home plate have a great view of the Arch as well. Visitor side gets shade first. Several very quick food vendors that pre cook the food and keep it warm under lights get you back to the action quick. Several others are close to made to order and offer a tastier adventure. Gift shops are a welcome rest from the heat or cold but make sure you enter them from within the stadium.

I really haven't been to many stadiums, but I enjoyed this. We were in town, so we picked up a couple of box seats (inside for the air conditioning). It was just over $100 each. Free food, free drinks, the game, and air conditioning it was a good time! If one of my kids enjoyed baseball, I would absolutely lake them this way.

I can't possibly say enough good things about this ballpark. But let me try. It has a beautiful design with the brick. It has a stunning view of the Gateway Arch. The ticket prices were excellent. And their giveaways are probably the best in the whole MLB. This was my second visit here, and I'm wondering why it hasn't been more. Great job Busch Stadium and the St Louis Cardinals.

Beautiful, clean and well run stadium. The community atmosphere was very special. This weekend was season ticket holder appreciation weekend. Many season ticket holders were interviewed. Many threw out the first pitch all weekend long. It felt like a minor league game enthusiasm. I'm a Dodgers fan visiting for the first time. Very impressed with the whole experience. Great job guys.

Parking was easy to find near by. We visited the arch first so had $10 parking. The stadium is close by. Unsure how safe the area is because my son spotted a used needed laying on the street on our walk to the stadium. The stadium was kept clean, great baseball experience. People helped us find our seats, had great food, the seats along the third base line were shaded for our evening game. Fun time.

The Gateway Arch stands as a monumental tribute to the expansion of the American West, soaring 630 feet into the sky. A visit to this iconic landmark is not complete without ascending to its apex, where breathtaking views of St. Louis and the Mississippi River await. The enclosed tram ride offers a unique journey to the Observation Deck, providing panoramic vistas that stretch up to 30 miles in all directions on clear days.
This was an awesome experience. I’ve visited the museum before but was finally able to ride to the top today. The trams are claustrophobic though so if you have issues with that then this might not be for you. If you can do it however, it is so worth it. On a clear day, the views are incredible! As someone with sensitive ears, they did feel a little uncomfortable during the ride up and back down. You only have 10 minutes at the top so you should promptly start taking your pictures and what not upon getting off of the tram. Be sure to check out the museum and gift shop as well!

Absolutely amazing monument! You don’t realize the sheer size of it until you’re standing and touching it. Such a beautiful park around it well lit very safe nice and clean, beautiful green grass trees line all the walkways. There’s a wonderful gentleman who pulls a horse drawn carriage and it’s filled with so much knowledge about the arch. I highly recommend a ride with him you’ll learn so much. Definitely a site to see!

Really enjoyed the place. I wasn't able to go up due to the number of stairs to get to the tram and then at the top, but it's got a wonderful park outside. Inside, the museum is well-designed, there's a dining area, a movie theater that shows stuff like the 1970s documentary, and my favorite: A VR experience that has you fly through a painting showing small scenes of a moment in time. It's very well done and feels like a ride.Outside of the Arch, the place is very accessible and the staff is very friendly and helpful (like most national parks). You do have to go through a metal detector, but it was very efficient when I was there.

This experience was really cool. If you can push your time back to spend time in the museum first. But, if you have a group smaller than 5 you'll have to ride up and down with other people. But the views were wonderful, "tour guide" was great. Overall an amazing experience

The photos do not do this arch justice! For 17.00 a person you can take a tram to the top of it! 😳🤯 Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to wait for the next one ☹️.I found the museum to be absolutely fascinating and even had interactive displays that were very interesting and informative. It kept a 13 year old intrigued amazingly!!Well worth the extra effort to see and experience it!!

A Local’s First-Time Experience at the St. Louis Gateway ArchDespite living in St. Louis for over 40 years, I had never been to the top of the Gateway Arch until now. I finally took the leap and visited this iconic landmark, and it was an experience I'll never forget! The journey starts in a small capsule that transports you up the Arch. The capsule is definitely a tight fit—I was alone, so I had a bit of extra room, but it was still pretty snug! The ride up is unique and a little scary, especially if you get wobbly legs like I do. But the thrill of reaching the top made it all worth it.Once at the top, I had about five minutes to take in the view through the small windows. The sight was impressive, though it triggered those wobbly legs again! Seeing the city from that height gave me a new appreciation for the Arch’s grandeur and the beauty of St. Louis. The ride down was much easier, thankfully. Back in the lobby, there was a spread of St. Louis-style food and exhibits to explore. This visit was an incredible reminder of how much history and beauty we have right here in our city. For any locals who’ve put it off like I did—go check it out!

This is must do on your bucket list. This place is the smallest national park and the only one in a major city. The views outside and on the top of the arch are amazing. You can get some great views just visiting the park but I suggest you go inside the visitor center and see the free museum and then pay to go up to the top of the arch. It’s well worth it for the experience going to the top and the views you see at the top.

I was very impressed when l stood at the bottom of this arch on both the shear scale and of the height of this structure. Underneath the arch, you will find a very good museum and the lifts that will take you to the top of the arch. The views from the top are just breathtaking!

This is such a cool amazing experience. It is not something you take people with a fear of heights or tight places. It is great for an off season adventure but come summer. The pods will be filled with all 5 seats and it is tight. The views on either side are amazing. The one down side is how short of a time you get to be on the viewing deck. Parking is limited and you do have to walk a bit. But the park is lovely with paved sidewalks with trees and a pond. Plus a lovely view of the river. Some attractions like the river cruise are seasonal or closed with the time of day or water level.

Stunning and beautiful 🤩 everything form the green areas, the trees, the Arch… then inside the building the museum, clean restrooms nice people and the best part is the views from the top. If you are scared of heights or small places I recommend you don’t go up because it is tight and a bit scary. Takes 4 min to go up and it descends pretty fast in just 3 minutes. Kind of cool. I saw a VR section were people can do the experience in Virtual reality.

I just visited the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, and it was amazing! The tram ride to the top was an adventure in itself, and the view from up there is absolutely breathtaking. You can see the entire city and the Mississippi River stretching out below. The museum at the base is really informative too, with lots of interesting exhibits about America's westward expansion. Definitely a must-see if you're in the area!

Whether you're interested in American history, stunning views, or simply marveling at human ingenuity, the Arch is a must-visit destination.

Another landmark down and many more to go. The arch looks much smaller just passing by, but it's a monster once you get up close and personal. I didn't know the interior of the arch was accessible, nor did I know there's a museum at the lower section. Once I made it on the inside, I noticed there was access to the top of the arch. I got a chance to view downtown St. Louis from a bird eye view and it was amazing. Whether it's just walking around the park or exploring the interior; it's a wonderful place to spend half of a day.

The Arch was built in 1965 and commemorates the Louisiana Purchase (1803) and the subsequent opening of the West to settlers following the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Also claimed to be the tallest man made monument in the western hemisphere. The entire National Park is underground, and to my surprise, it is full of history, very well maintained, and they have a gift shop. You can go inside and up to the top of the Arch, but it's a very tight squeeze.Definitely recommend making a stop here!

We were in Missouri for the solar eclipse, so afterwards we went up to St Louis, cause we all wanted to see the arch. And it's very cool and impressive. When I was a trucker I passed by it innumerable times, but seeing it up close is much better. There was a cool little park outside, and the view at night is excellent. You can get inside easily, but if you want to go to the top you should purchase your tickets in advance, because they limit the number of people that can be at the top at a time. Also, you have to go through park security to go to the top, but its very quick. If you're claustrophobic you probably won't enjoy going up, but you can look out at the great view from the top. And they have a nice gift shop. Personally, I enjoyed seeing it from outside the best, but it was cool going to the top, and I don't regret it.

The arch is DEFINITELY a worthwhile trip! We booked tickets to go up into the arch, and it was so fun! The tram ride isn't the most comfortable especially if you have more than a couple of people in the car (it's only about 4ish feet wide), but the ride is 4 minutes up and 3 minutes down. The views from the top are amazing!!!We enjoyed the museum while we waited for our tram ride. Learning how the arch was built was interesting. It's an engineering marvel. The green space outside the arch is a nice place to hang out. Getting through security for the tram and museum was also quick. Overall, we loved visiting and hope to return again soon!

It was a massive arch! It's also cool that the width and the length are the same! (630 feet). At the entrance, they have a little example room of what you take up the arch! They have a cool museum to look at while you wait for your tram up. The security is a bit like a airport where you put metal items in bins.Theres a line to get to the tram entrance. Once you get past the line,You get a tour guide that tells you history about the arch and other things. The trams a bit wiggly while it rides to the top, but it's worth it when you see the stunning views from the top of the arch! Didn't find where you can exit from the arch legs,But doesn't change a thing! Great!

Easy to book tickets and wow, what a view! Absolutely beautiful! The gift shop is super cute with lots of options for kids of all ages. Books rich in history, local jams, quality shirts and recipe books. The greenery around the Arch is beautiful too. A must shop if you’re passing St. Louis.

Going up into the Gateway Arch right around sunset is a magical experience! The whole entire park is fantastic. The museum underneath the arch is pretty cool, too. I recommend that anyone coming to town, as well as locals who have never found the time to go, all give this park a chance and experience it.

This was totally awesome once you got to the top. We bought tickets in advance for the 1:15 time slot. It took about an hour to go through the whole process before you actually got to the top. Once you're up there, it's an incredible view! The 5-person pod that you take to get to the top is tiny, for people under 6' tall. I barely fit inside. Overall, it was still a fun and exciting experience! Thank you, St Louis Gateway Arch
Jasin P — Google review
Not my first trip to the arch but the first time bringing my kids. It is an impressive engineering feat if nothing else. The Arch is something you must see once in your life just to see how it was built and seeing the great expanse looking west from the top of the arch. It’s amazing that people looked west and just headed out hoping things would just work out. The museum under the arch is well done. We bought a package deal with the movie and boat ride included. I would pass on the package unless you’re planning on spending most of the day at the arch. We were tight on time because we had other things to do in St. Louis so that was probably not the best package for us. You can watch the movie on YouTube on your way to the Arch as another option.

Great history!! A must if you’re in town. You walk thru a museum and then it’s a short ride to the top. Must buy tickets and make reservations. So check before you come because sometimes it’s booked for days. Great views from the top
RANDY M — Google review
Unbelievably fun. You enter into a capsule holding 5-6 people and it slowly moves you up within the arch to the top.Small windows at the top give you views of the Mississippi River. The whole experience from start to finish is well organized. Gift shop and food service nice. Inside and outside the Gateway is a marvel.Important note -Some stairs need to be climbed at the top.
J B — Google review
the arch is cool, the park is pretty, you get to see the river, city hell, downtown. Very pleasant place to walk. Its just disappointing that the museum and the tram close so early. Would have been nice to have gone up there during my layover. Why not have rides up and down at sunset? Or at night when you can see all the lights? I think people would really enjoy that.
Bronson A — Google review
Best place to visit. Clean and well-maintained museum. The staff is supportive and shows their willingness to help. The tram to the top is the best experience for everyone. Please do not miss it. Those 10 minutes on the top give a beautiful North and south city view. Highly recommend booking a tram ticket in advance as those tickets get booked faster.
Rahul M — Google review
It was really easy to book tickets to the arch and riverboat online. Inside was the arch museum and building was very well air conditioned so that was nice after doing a lot of walking. The ride up and down was quick and safe. I would not recommend if you are claustrophobic at all. There's 4 to 5 people per car so be prepared to be in tight quarters with strangers if you're not in a big group. The riverboat tour was nice especially in the evening because it wasn't too hot. Our guide was very informative and funny. I would do the riverboat again and recommend the arch to anyone who is visiting St. Louis
Amanda T — Google review
Went here with my boyfriend. We were able to get tickets the day before. To take the tram to the top, they fit 5 people. If you have less than 5 people in your group, they’ll fit others in with you to make full use of the trams to the top. This was an amazing and fun experience. The arch cafe has really good food and smoothies. I had the panini and it was so delicious. Some of the staff working at the gateway arch could have a better attitude though. The girls in the cafe were sweet though.

Visitor center
The Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center is the perfect starting point for exploring the historic town. The center offers a walking tour video and area brochures, providing valuable information for visitors. Additionally, it houses the Roscoe Misselhorn Gallery, showcasing original sketches of Ste. Genevieve. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are locals who can offer insights into the city's historic sites, dining options, and other attractions.
One of the newer things to see in Ste Genevieve is the many murals. Local artist Kenzie Wolk has painted some of them and Craig Thomas painted one of the most recent additions. These works of art make for a more interesting visit to the downtown area of Ste Genevieve. If a few more are added over time. It could be interesting to add finding all of the murals as part of a walking tour of the downtown area of Ste Genevieve.

The ranger was informative, helpful and enthusiastic but no words can adequately describe the rich history of this community. As we walked from place to place the residents would point out interesting details and suggestions. We were too late for a guided tour but would recommend it. It is a hidden treasure!

Nice little welcome center in the historic district of Ste Gen. The staff were very nice and informative. Kind of a small museum mixed with a tourism board. You can purchase a historic site passport here that will get you in to 6 of the the local sites. Includes 5 houses and the city museum. Cost is $15 a person, but if you don't purchase it, you pay individually at each place. If you are a walker, all sites are walkable.

The historic site is worth visiting, and the Ste. Genevieve City is very neat and beautiful. More importantly, the staff in the Visitor Center is very informative and knowledgeable. It is a coincidence that we have met him at another National Historic Site in St.Louis before. Again, we have learn many thing from him, and my son also got a badge there. Due to my English level, I made a mistake and missed the Bolduc tour. Anyway, we visited the Centre for French Colonial Life, which is small museum but exhibit each aspect of settler's early life.

Fun & Games
The Lory Theater is an old-fashioned local cinema featuring two screens, which has been in operation since the early days of movies. The theater originally served as a vaudeville playhouse and still retains some of its vintage charm. It is particularly known for its delicious popcorn, although some patrons have suggested that the seats could be more comfortable. Despite this minor issue, everyone who visits The Lory Theater will feel welcomed by the friendly atmosphere.
Great atmosphere polite staff, and prices are so reasonable. Popcorn has a movie butter taste. Sharing this theater with the people who brought this back to the community is a great privilege. Enjoy the Lory Theater

I enjoy the small town atmosphere of the Lory Theater and supporting a local small business. The employees are always friendly and helpful. I especially like the custom Lory Theater metal insulated tumbler for $3 fills during each subsequent visit. (and free refills). The ticket prices can't be beat and there are rarely any huge crowds unless the movie is quite popular.

The pharmacy is most definitely not recommended the techs either rude or takes forever . My friends and I love Walgreens but the pharmacy is a headache. I notice new techs maybe they are seeking approval but as of today I will be switching from the pharmacy. I’ve tried with them but it seems the service is always a challenge at the window.

Made online order and didn't know how to go about it and my phone died. So I let it charge and went in the store to look if they had something. Went out to get my phone and a worker was standing at the door watching me and when I got out she told me she was trying to see if I was meeting somebody. Weird but got my online order. Very uncomfortable

A year ago I would have given them a five-star rating. And honestly, Walgreens pharmacy still has wonderful pharmacists, kind and courteous techs, and nice, helpful staff. However, I'm concerned about this store. I have been going here since 2015 and I have seen some significant changes like the shelves not being stocked and faced. I went today to pick up my prescriptions and I had a list of other items I wanted to buy. Some shelves were completely bare. I just wanted some Gas-X or the generic. None. Matter a fact, that entire section looked empty. Seriously, are you guys going out of business?

I am giving a 3 star rating simply because of the pharmacy's hours. It's hard enough to make to the pharmacy on time before they close. Walgreens went from being a 24-hour pharmacy to closing at 6pm on most nights, even now being CLOSED ON A SATURDAY!! I MEAN COME ON!! That is EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT!! 😩I always liked the fact that you all were at open at least until 8pm! At least in most other locations anyway, they still are.And by the way, y'all need to change your hours on Google! Because it still says your pharmacy is open 24-hours!! Obviously, that's not true! 🙄Other than the inconvenient hours, the staff IS ALWAYS very helpful, friendly, and professional. ❤️

Went in tonight to get my husband and my prescription before leaving town for a week. Pharmacy closed at 6 because of low staff. Now I have to go 5 days with my mess. Start paying a decent wage so you can hire reliable staff.

I have always used Walgreens in the past, and I’ve had rather good experiences. However, This experience changed my perspective. While I do enjoy being able to call and check on the app whenever my prescription is ready, I have had a tough time getting my location for my main pharmacy changed, and every time I call the phone number, I am always redirected to another line. I was redirected for different times today. Then, I went into the store and nicely asked for my prescription to be refilled. The girl refill Duron’s prescription, which could’ve been my fault, but then she proceeded to tell me that I would have to go cut contact the other store for them to switch my prescription over. I told her I had called multiple times, and she said she would help me get someone to help me further. Then, She never showed back up and never requested for anybody to come help me. I am very disappointed in my services here.

It's worth giving it a shot as one never knows what fortune might bring.
First time there and I really enjoyed myself, spent 20 and came home with little over 200, probably first time luck! I haven’t been to a casino in years but it was a great time! I would recommend atleast trying your luck! You never know

I visited Century Casino in Cape Girardeau during the day, and it was a perfect experience. With fewer people around, I enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to play at my own pace. The selection of slot machines and table games is impressive, catering to all preferences. The staff was friendly and attentive, which added to the welcoming vibe. While the dining options are satisfactory, a bit more variety would enhance the overall experience, also the white wine options are not great. The layout is generally easy to navigate, making for a smooth visit.Overall, Century Casino is a great spot for a fun day out, allowing you to fully enjoy all it has to offer.

Stayed in the new hotel while visiting Cape. Friendly staff and the hotel was very clean. The room was nice! Had a view of the river and bridge, which was pretty cool. The big bed and pillows were so comfy - I slept like a baby! There were lots of light fixture features in the room, which is a nice touch if you prefer different tones of light in your room, and little reading lamps. I really appreciated the full length mirror on the wall for viewing my outfits. There was plenty of counter space for setting out your things. Having a mini fridge and room safe if needed was nice. The bathroom was awesome - it was big and there were bright lights around the mirror - perfect for doing your makeup. And the bathroom towels were SO SOFT! Tempted to call and find out the towel brand. Shower water temp and pressure was good too. The casino was fun and convenient to be connected to the hotel downstairs. Played roulette and then won my money back and over on the penny slots! The hotel was also conveniently near downtown where we went to Ground-a-Bout coffee in the morning. But the hotel will be getting a Starbucks soon, which is going to be a huge added plus! My only two (minor) complaints is that I was not a fan of the bar shampoo, and the Nickelodeon channel didn't work so I couldn't watch Friends at night. Overall, I still give 5 stars and I would totally stay again!

My mother is almost 70 and had eye surgery at st francis in cape and is not allowed to hold her hear up for 48 hours she had to sleep on her stomach with her head hanging off end of bed. We had to be back at hospital at 8am the next morning for followup so we booked a room at this hotel. The night security at hotel was very nice. They were not allowed to let us use a wheel chair to get her to room but they did get the wheel chair and pushed her up to the room themselves and told us in the morning just to come back down and they would assist again. Now fast forward to 730am next morning. Morning shift security 🤬🤬🤬 said first we they didn't have any wheel chairs. Liar! We nicely informed them that we knew they do have 1 and how nice they were last night and that we were told just to ask for help again this morning thinking that would matter. It did not. They were very rude , said we could not use wheel chair and that they would not use wheel chair to assist her from room to vehicle either. Said just hold her one arm to keep her from falling. I feel sorry for these men's moms if that is how they treat their own moms

My recent trip to Century Casino was quite the adventure! First off, my birthday was entered incorrectly on my card, which turned the app into a useless piece of digital art on the day of my visit. Imagine trying to explain to your phone that, no, you are not attempting identity theft—you just want to see your points balance! The smoky atmosphere was also a bit much. I ended up needing a thorough shower to remove the Eau de Ashtray from my hair. But hey, a little extra hygiene never hurt anyone, right?Despite the mix-ups and the need for a post-casino decontamination, I had a blast. The games were a ton of fun, and the staff was super friendly. All in all, Century Casino provided a memorable (if slightly smoky) experience!

The hotel was very clean and modern! Our room had a great view of the river. The bed was super comfortable and big. The bathroom was huge! There was plenty of counter space and a big bright mirror in the bathroom. The room safe and mini fridge are always a nice touch in any hotel room. The casino the perfect size for how big cape is. Plenty of slots, a good handful of table games, and it seemed like the odds weren’t too bad. We were able to make a couple twenties last for over an hour, which isn’t bad in my eyes.

This was my second time dining at this restaurant. The first was hands down 5 stars all around. I was not impressed on my most recent visit. The wedge salad was mostly the worst part of the lettuce and not enough blue cheese dressing. The bacon was cold and burnt. Shrimp was good, but the sauce was so rich I couldn't finish it.

This was our first visit to the casino. The atmosphere was nice... it reminded us of being in Vegas! It was very clean, and the staff was friendly. Our drinks were just so so. We didn't gamble for very long, but it was fun. I ended up losing mere cents, but my friend was up $53. A man who was cashing out behind us won $1,000!!! We also attended a comedy show in the attached event room. It was so much fun, but the chairs were locked together so you couldn't move them and it was tight being seated right up against others, which made it hot and stuffy. Our entertainment was good enough that we barely noticed how uncomfortable the seating arrangement was, though. I recommend seeing a show and gambling some night.

Not a bad casino. Didn’t see any live roulette tables although they do have the computerized ones. Decent amount of slots and other table games. Video poker machines are very "tight".Hotel had very nice modern rooms.however just a cup.of coffee was hard to find...especially if you don't want espresso. Hotel needs to cater to their guests a little more and maybe offer continental breakfast...just a thought.

I have put over 100.00 in a machine at one time on a few different visits and not even received a free spin..that's depressing. It has gotten to where it is no longer enjoyable to come here. You need to let people win a little along to keep them interested. You know they are gonna play it back. I hate that they removed the buffet from there. Are they ever gonna put the buffet back since they now have a hotel?

I love the place, several different machines to choose from, everybody is so kind & nice. Love getting the free monthly money every week to go play with, of course I spend more than what they give me weekly those months & lately when I do go use money I get an email for the weekend coming up with even more free money! Only thing that is disappointing is that I haven't won a jackpot yet & I been going since they opened lol

We don't really gamble, but the food was good and the rooms were very clean.

Found this park on the way to Giant City State Park. Knew it was a park my grandchildren would love. I was right! Visited with the grands and had a wonderful time. It's free, but they do take donations. It's privately owned, so anything will help. If you're thinking about visiting, you won't be disappointed!

What a fun location to explore. The many dragons and wizards were great to take pictures with, and the castle was a blast to wander thru and pretend to be a knight! I felt like I was visiting Hogsmead from Harry Potter!

Great park. Kids love it. Even friends from Chicago wish they lived closer so they could bring their children there.

This place is AMAZING!!! The castle is one of the coolest things in the world for kids. Endless tunnels and paths and mazes and even trap doors. Wow! Such a cool and impressive park. We will always come back to bring our son here!! Such a special place!

One of the most beautiful and iconic parks I've ever seen. I used to come here several years ago just to take pictures, and this time I got to bring my own child to enjoy the magic with me.

A hidden gem!! No clue this place existed until my gps took me the back roads to carbondale. I love the story behind it, a lovely memorial park. It looks straight out of a kids book, will be going back

Very cool attraction! Definitely recommend whether you are a DnD fan or not. There are so many things to see that even when you think you've seen it all in an area I'll bet there is something in a nook or cranny you missed. Definitely recommend for kids of all ages.

It's worth the detour if you have children or not. Plenty of activities and Instagram opportunities. The castle is a huge fort of interconnecting bridges and tunnels. If you're trying to wear the children out for the car ride this is the place to stop!

Unreal...coolest playground ever! Castles, wizards and dragons, oh my! They even sell t-shirts the place rocks. Check it out, especially if you dig the medieval vibe.

We were here for the eclipse in 2024, and I can't say enough good things about this park. We were here from about 8:30 am to 3 pm, and even after the eclipse was over we still had to pry the kids away from the park they'd been enjoying all day. The 2yo kept going back into the castle, and even the 11yo said he was still getting lost in it and finding secret passages. A fence encloses the park, though be aware there are 2 open gates on opposite sides. The only restrooms are port a potties, but they were cleaned and well-maintained. Though the castle is not handicap accessible, a disabled parent can easily come into the park and watch their kids play. The giant sleeping dragon was also a huge hit. Thank you so much for this amazing place!

What a great place! The castle was fun to wander in, even as an adult. The sculptures are all very interesting. Love that it is free! They also have shirts for sale! The office is across the street in a large 2+ story house

This park is a must see if you’re in the area with kids or you just love fantasy and mythic creatures.

I wish I could leave a better review it was a very darling park with beautiful statues and wonderful sculptures. However my family and I couldn't enjoy it due to the amount of teens that were drinking on this particular day and a grown man with a 24pk of beer. We grabbed our children and left after being there for 10 minutes trying to make the best of it but the teens that were vaping and drinking and being rowdy was not a good thing for my you get children to see I wish the rules were more enforced

Great place to take the kids! The castle playground is so much fun and the dragon statues really make it unique. The kids are already begging to go back!

Grown ups will enjoy as much as children when you explore the hidden gem of a park dedicated to the memory of the owners son who tragically died in an accident. Boo loved Dungeons and Dragons and his father and friends transformed this magical park into a castle and grounds where dragons and wizards roam. Trap doors await with hidden passages to open up in a different room in the castle. Beautiful flower beds surrounding metal sculptures of winged creatures. We visit a couple times a year and find new things that we have never seen. Bring your kids and try keeping up with them as they wonder in amazement. What an incredible place.

Such a nice park for kids and adults alike! Father built park in honor of his beloved son Jeremy! Castle is a maze of angles, stairs, and rope/plank bridge with lots of friendly medieval character statues!

Such a cute memorial park to help bring joy to people in memory of Boo.

This park is a must see! It is a private park and I very much suggest reading the history of the park. The main feature is the GIANT wood and stone castle. Take your time going through it, there are countless details! Look up, down, and out! Other attractions are life sized sculptures of wizards, kings, dragons, and more! There are many areas with picnic tables comfortably in the shade. Outside of the fence is a small shed with two porta-potties for park guests. There is also a visitor center of sorts but we didn't go see it. The park is dog friendly as long as you clean up after it. The park can be used for parties, more information about that on their website. Parking didn't seem very abundant but I may not have seen all the available parking areas

Beautiful artwork. Enjoyed this hidden gem hidden in Mt Vernon Illinois. The main gallery costs $5, but it is well worth the admission price. They also have a book of their collection available for $25. I purchased one and am enjoying the enriching additional information. They also have a walking path you can take to see many beautiful sculptures on your tour through the grounds with additional exhibits located in other buildings. Due to time constraints and my sister being in a wheelchair, we were limited to how much we could explore, but still enjoyed much they had to offer and enjoyed talking with museum staff about the history of the museum and their collection. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone who likes nature and art in general.

This is a fantastic art museum and outdoor sculpture garden. They have art classes as well as live music events. Don't miss this if you're in the area!

We enjoyed the art inside & outside even though it was hot out.

We were traveling through and planned to stop. I had hope to be able to see more of the outdoor sculptures but being in a wheelchair they weren't easy to get close to. Most of the paths weren't paved. I did enjoy what I could see and the museum was very nice. I would like to visit again when in the area.

We attended an art fair here. We enjoyed ourselves, but everything was high end retail and we weren't expecting that. The property looked beautiful and I would love to go back and just walk around. If you hunt Pokemon this spot is loaded with Pokestops!!

Great little museum! The permanent, though small, has several big names, and the rotating exhibit on our visit had a really nice show print display. The grounds are beautiful, with sculptures appearing throughout. This is a great place to spend a day.

I always enjoy visiting Cedarhurst! I did not enter the museum today as I wanted to explore outside instead. I noticed recent updates to the grounds on this visit. The nature trails are no longer plain dirt, gravel has been added to the paths and other improvements such as labeled path markers. They’ve definitely stepped up their outdoor game. The lovely pond is pretty anytime of year, but it’s especially nice in the warmer weather when the fountain is flowing.

We went for the Christmas Light walk. It was excellent. About a mile walk in length with volunteers to help shepherd you in the proper direction. I can't believe it was only their 2nd year doing it. A+++ All around. Drinks for adults and kids alike. Lots of kid crafts are available also. We will be going back again for sure next year.

It's a great place to take your kids, the dog, or just go for a walk yourself around the park sculptures outside. They've got great courses and activities for kids and family. And many very good art exhibitions.

Such a beautiful place. The grounds were well maintained and filled with wonderful trails and sculptures. The museum was magnificent. Most of it is free with a small fee for one section. I highly recommend spending some time here.

It was nice to get around on the paths through the Center. Using a mobility scooter, I was able to navigate the paths including the pea sized gravel paths with my low clearance scooter. Many of the sculptures were far from the path but I had my binoculars with me for bird watching and could use them to see the sculptures better.I did not visit the museum.

We attended the watch party for the 2024 eclipse at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, and it was an amazing experience! We drove from out of state and were so impressed by their beautiful grounds and helpful staff/volunteers. We were expecting big crowds, and even though we heard that they had sold 1500 tickets, since they have so much beautiful outdoor space, we had a very peaceful experience with very few people near us. Although we didn't get to spend much time enjoying their facility (since we were focused on the eclipse), their indoor space was also very nice, and amazingly enough, I didn't even have to wait to use their restrooms, which were clean and very nice. We enjoyed some of the outdoor sculptures and would love to visit again if we are ever back in the area. We are just so grateful to Cedarhurst for hosting such a great event!

Absolutely stunning grounds with fantastic sculptures. Map of grounds online and printed map indoors. Free admission to grounds, pets on leash ok outside. Mostly paved walkways and grassy paths. Restrooms inside. Saw a couple of picnic tables, lots of benches. Warm spring day! - suggest bringing a water bottle, wear a hat, bring a water dish for your furry friend. All in all a lovely visit. Allow an hour or more to see all the sculptures. More if you want to see the indoor exhibits.

We had a wonderful experience here for the total solar eclipse last week. The grounds provided a beautiful setting to watch the eclipse. The kids had fun looking at the sculptures outside, and the kids area inside kept them entertained after the eclipse as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will have to make a trip back next time we're in the area to get the full experience.

This is one of the most interesting places I've ever visited. There is no admission fee on Thursday's, and the rest of the week it only costs $5. If you have the chance, go check out the outdoor sculptures. They are truly amazing!
